Most of us consider Memorial Day weekend as the unofficial start of summer. With schools out of session, the weather warm, the ballparks crowded with summer ballgames, it’s easy to forget the reason we celebrate Memorial Day. One of my team members posted this earlier this week, and I wanted to share with you today. Thank you Arla for reminding me the cost of Memorial Day.
Monday will be the most expensive holiday on the calendar. Every hot dog, every burger, every spin around the lake, or drink with family and friends….is a debt….. purchased by others. It’s a day in honor of those who paid with blood and life; whose moms never saw them again, whose dads wept in private, whose wives raised kids alone, and whose kids only remember them from pictures. Today isn’t simply a day off. This is a day to remember – that others paid for every free breath you take.
May we never forget. I’ll be back Tuesday to share, but until then, have a Blessed Memorial Day!
