I was a slug most all of Monday. Give me credit for loading and emptying the dishwasher AND making three loaves of banana bread, but otherwise I totally wasted the day. Oh, I also typed up directions for three Valentine cards, so NOT a TOTALLY wasted day, but Pool Boy and I watched a couple of movies and just chilled. With no guilt.

Today’s card focuses on the background mat. I took 1/4 inch strips of three coordinating DSP patterns in the Lovely and Beautiful package and adhered to a mat covered with an adhesive sheet. I made mine strips vertical, but horizontal or even diagonal would have worked as well!!! Once I had the mat covered in strips, I trimmed the edges than embossed with the Forever Plaid embossing folder. I think the embossing folder adds an extra oomph to any type of pieced background with the texture and also really seals the edges of the pieces to the adhesive.
For the flowers, I used the solid floral die cut from Fresh Freesia, then cut two of the small intricate petals out of white. Before adhering the pieces together I added Fresh Freesia ink with a blending brush to darken the flower centers. The floral centers were embellished with one of the large gems in the Pearlized Faceted Circle embellishments.
Simply add a small greeting stamped on a 1/2 inch strip of basic white card stock, cut the pennant end and the card is ready to go! Sometimes we need ideas to use up those extra strips left from the DSP, so this card is a great want to add texture, variety, AND use up pieces!!!
I’ll be back tomorrow with one more project before Christmas, so with all of the festive holiday plans, try to find sometime to do whatever makes you happy, and God Bless!!!!
