Love Is In The Air This Month!

How is it already February??? It seems like January flew by, and since February is the short month it will probably zoom by as well. During the years I taught, January thru March was the longest stretch ever! Back then you weren’t guaranteed having Martin Luther King Day or President’s Day off for a break. Other than dismissal days for weather, you went to school from the 1st of January until Easter. We might have had a couple of days off for Easter, but if the winter weather brought many school cancellations those days were lost as well. We had no such thing as AMI days – alternative means of instruction – and since the bulk of the new instruction falls during those three months you prayed for some continuity so you weren’t constantly in review mode. Heaven forbid if Easter landed in mid April and you had to go that long for a break!

So it seems ironic I’m talking how quickly the days are going by now for me. During the month of February we are going to concentrate on “sharing the love” with others. Through cards, home decor pieces, and service projects let’s celebrate the whole month thru!

This isn’t even in the frame yet!!! Saturday I worked on the project for Stamp ‘n Sip – it will be the new insert for our 6×12 framed series. I’ve been working my way through multiple packages of the Made With Love DSP and the patterns and colors make me happy. And I love the entire suite with the stamp set, bundle, and the embossing folder!

Many of our embossing folders won’t work for a large piece of paper measuring 6 x 12, but luckily the hinge of the folder and the size makes it easy to emboss one end of the paper, then the other without reversing the print! I’m currently on my 6th package of this DSP and I’ve yet to get sick of it. Ask me that come the end of February though! I may sing a different tune!

Sharing The Love With Meals On Wheels!

This past weekend several ladies in the community gathered for a crop, and one of the tables was busy working on cards for Meals On Wheels. Arlene sent me this photo of Dawn and Linda working on the 100 Valentine cards being assembled. These ladies meet and create cards for the Meals On Wheels recipients 5 times a year to bring a smile to their faces with the meal delivery. Linda is the “Craft Coordinator”, planning and preparing the cards, then the rest are her “Crafting Crew” to help with the labor. She schedules her workers throughout the weekend, and she’s already planned her Easter card for the next 100 cards!

So take some time to figure out how you can share the love during the month of February. Pam and Chris made Valentines with the church youth group last week, I’ll be making Valentines for the hospital staff, and still others will send Valentine treats to nursing home residents.

And keep in mind – teachers could ALWAYS use a Valentine pick me up come February 14!!! They are in that long stretch for sure! Until next time, have a great day doing whatever makes you happy, and God Bless!
