Did you enjoy watching the Winter Olympics these past 2-3 three weeks? From the pageantry of the opening ceremonies, through the “thrill of victory, the agony of defeat” – yep, took that straight from The Wide World Of Sports back in the 60’s – we followed our athletes as they prepared for the pinnacle of their training. We cheered our women’s curling team as they advanced to the medal rounds, we hurt for Bates and Chock as they took the silver medal, and we celebrated as the US women’s and men’s hockey teams both won gold for the first time. It had been 46 years since the men’s team had won gold.
Pool Boy and I kept track of the match by cell phone, and right before the church bell rang to begin services the US pulled out the overtime win. I received 2 “thumbs up” signs at the same time – one from Pastor Kohn telling me to start the prelude, the second from Pool Boy telling me the US won. FYI – looking at the congregation from the front of church I could tell we were not the ONLY ones checking out the final score!!!! There was a small undercurrent happening along the pews! lol!

If you enjoy creating St. Patrick’s Day cards be sure to check out the stamp set Good Luck. This little gem has several images associated with Ireland, as well as appropriate greetings. We have several different stamp sets and tools available right now in the product line, and when you throw in the full line of our green hues you have a variety of materials available for celebrating!

Probably my favorite trip of all our travels was seeing the beauty of Ireland. I loved everything about it – the colors, the history, the friendliness of the people, and the foods (except for the white and black puddings served for the traditional Irish breakfasts). But nothing tops the folk lore and the music of Ireland. I’d go back in a heartbeat to experience it again. During our visit the national hurling championships were going on. EVERY town was flying their team’s colors with flags, pennants, and banners. In the store fronts, streaming across the cobblestone streets, outside of homes everyone showed their teams support.
Just like we look forward to championship games such as the Olympics, the Super Bowl, the World Series, or the Stanley Cup, other countries cheer and support their athletes’ in their competitive fields. And for the team who achieve the ultimate success, they take home the gold. And the bragging rights until the next time.
I’ll be back tomorrow to share my St. Patrick’s banner!!! Here’s hoping you have a great day doing whatever you love to do, and God Bless!
