Two of my favorite aspects of Stampin’ Up! products are the wide array and coordination of colors. Fifty shades to choose from, and no matter what you choose there will be products that completely match. When I first started paper crafting I scoured the big box craft stores looking for DSP, cardstocks, and ribbons. More times than not, I struggled to find the perfect match. Oh, I’d find a DSP that would work with a card stock, but no ribbons, no bling to match. I ended up with multiple spools of ribbon, odds and ends of gem assortments, and paper that just didn’t really do it. And most of it didn’t get used.
So, when I discovered the wide variety of color hues and the coordinating embellishments, I was sold. Today, I had an issue arise with cutting the DSP patterns from the new Christmas paper – A Stitched Season – and I needed to make a quick pivot with one of my Christmas cards.

Even though I enjoy using unusual color combos, I’m not sure I’d have gone with the whole Secret Sea – Real Red combination for Christmas. I needed to make that pivot with the DSP though, so that’s exactly the combination I went to work with. Secret Sea is a great color that I’m hoping makes the color revamp next year from an In Color to a permanent color in the Neutral Collection. And lucky for me, I just had an order arrive yesterday with two packages of card stock AND the ribbon (that is on the Last Chance list for about 1/2 price!!!) Knowing everything was going to work together made the whole pivot thing much smoother and quicker!

Same with the embellishments!!! These sequins are several years old and from a kit, BUT being Real Red they work perfectly! (FYI – I try my hardest to use current products, BUT when it comes to gems and embellishments, my rule of thumb is anything goes if the color is current in the collection.)
When I package my cards for display at card classes, I usually leave the white center mat unglued. I tuck the card into a clear envelope and insert the white center mat in the back side of the envelope before closing. It helps to keep the card clean for MY use later AND still allows the class members to see how I finished the inside of the card. I still have people who have to open it and look and sometimes I still have inky finger prints, but once class is over, I simply glue the inside mat in place, then add the card to my Christmas card stash. As long as no inky finger prints!
Final Thoughts….
Pool Boy has a doctor appointment this morning with the fracture specialist to see how his fractured patella is healing. It truly is amazing that he has done so well with the recovery. From listening to others who had major knee surgeries, braces, crutches, etc. with a fractured patella, we were extremely fortunate that he had no restrictions of any kind. New ex rays tomorrow will hopefully show everything healing and mending.
I’ll be back Wednesday to share the Halloween class I’ve been playing with. I’m super excited to use the Playful Packaging dies! These were one of the first things that caught my eye in the May-August catalog, and made the first order list as well. Have a great day doing whatever makes you happy, and God Bless!
