The summer sport of major league baseball is still going, but from the TV stations and the sports network, everything is about FIFA and soccer – or FUTBOL as the serious fans outside of the US call it. Pool Boy and I have watched more soccer matches recently then we ever have, and I’ve got to say the match yesterday between Germany and Paraguay was exciting, going into like double overtime stuff. These fans are passionate about their teams!
Seattle was full of FIFA fans and players, and I hear the same about Kansas City and the other cities hosting games. Towns hosting base camps for teams have thoroughly embraced the excitement and the passion for the game, such as the connection between Algeria and Lawrence, Kansas where chants of “Rock Chalk Algeria” could be heard daily.

So it’s only fitting that I include a PLAYFUL PACKAGING post with treat toppers for football and soccer! Stampin’ Up! came out with a fun soccer themed suite with DSP, stamps, and dies for those who enjoy the sport. But they are also coming out with a great football stamp set for fans as well!!!

FYI – I ran out of time to complete the actual treat bags with candy, so use your imagination regarding what treat would be in the cellophane bag! I cut the topper out of DSP, used Garden Green and Basic Black to stamp the images, and Golden Glow for the trophy die cut. Throw on some of the black/white ribbon that’s retired and you have a cute and fun treat topper!!!!

And I had to finish up with a treat topper perfect for my Kansas City Chiefs!!! We have no football DSP, but I simply pulled a yellow background pattern from some DSP, then stamped with Garden Green, Real Red, and Pecan Pie. There are no dies included, but the images are very easy to fancy snip and trim. This would be easy to duplicate for any of the NFL or college football teams, all the way down to the little football teams of elementary age.
Several years ago while we were touring Ireland the national hurling championships were going on. Every town our bus went through had their favorite teams, and banners were streamed across streets, around flagpoles, and in windows of homes. It was fun to see which teams the villages followed and supported.
Final Thoughts….
Shelby always knows something is up when she sees the suitcases out! She’ll be staying with Megan’s family while we are gone to Canmore, Alberta in Canada. We will be touring Banff National Park and Jasper National Park, and will be home on July 7. They say the Canadian Rockies are breathtaking, so we will see for ourselves. And I think Canada is already heading to the next round of the World Cup so it will be interesting to see how much they follow their futbol team. My computer is traveling with us, so I’ll still be here posting daily.
Until next time, enjoy time crafting, enjoy time creating, enjoy time with your family and friends, and God Bless!
