Violet Dreams Suite With Easel Card #4!

Good morning everyone! We have been focusing on two different themes this week – the first is creating with the Framed Violets Suite, and the second is creating with different easel card fun folds. I love the variety that fun folds give to our paper crafting, and creating a card that is free standing doubles the wow factor!

To just look at this card it doesn’t give any indication that the card can stand, does it? I continued to use the Violet Dreams DSP as well as the Violet Dreams bundle for the card, along with Gorgeous Grape and Basic White card stock. My stamps were inked in Gorgeous Grape and Hydrangea Hue, then to finish off the floral die cut, I turned to the Peaceful Pine and Highland Heather blends.

Out of our 50 colors found in our color collection, there are only 6 shades WITHOUT coordinating blends! I keep hoping for a Gorgeous Grape blend duo to arrive, but no such luck. Other colors without matching blends include Coastal Cabana, Crushed Curry, Garden Green, Basic Gray, and Early Espresso. I’m able to get around no Early Espresso blend by turning to the skin tone blend collection, but I’ve wanted a Garden Green for several years during the Christmas season without any luck!

Ok, please disregard the wonky photo above! It looks rather crooked but I promise it isn’t! It has to do with the camera angle and my eye perception, but IT IS TOTALLY STRAIGHT! Remember – I’m far from perfect.

By adding another score line to the card base, then folding accordion style, this card pops up almost straight when you tuck it behind the little white Happy Birthday label! This is a super easy yet super cute fun fold anyone can create.

Yesterday one of our church friends brought flowers from her garden to create the bouquet above for our friend Pam. Pam loves any shade of orange, so Carol worked around the zinnias and dahlia from her flower beds, then added touches of yellow with her stunning sun flowers and the purple liatris spike.

Pool Boy and I ran the flowers over to see Pam last night and although she’s in pain from the incision, she is doing ok. She’s a long recovery time ahead with no weight bearing movements, followed by extensive therapy. She commented how she’s received several cards already from stamping friends and church family, so keep the cards coming. Those touches of friendship mean lots and helps to break up her long day.

The gardener Carol is a former student of mine from 40 years ago. I love how connections from the past circle round to form new connections years later. And just like paper crafters love to share their talents with others, Carol does the same through her green thumb and horticulture background. As our CEO Sarah says, sharing your talents with others helps to eradicate loneliness in the world. One Card, One Friend, One Community at a time.
