Using The Scallop Rectangle Dies For Shape Cards!

It’s been a busy week friends! We’ve had two stamping events, and I’m heading to a 4 day retreat here in Macon. Pool Boy took my craft cart to the car wash to wash off the incredibly mud-packed wheels – one of our kids transported the grands to the lake in it, and it came home with lake mud! BUT, I’m happy to say that the car wash cleaned the wheels right up and the sunshine dried everything else, and I’m able to use my cart for transporting my supplies to the crop. I don’t stay for the crop – I just pop in and out to work with others on those unfinished projects that have gotten pushed back. We ALL have those projects!

Our friend Rowena gave me the cart for Christmas several years ago, and it’s come in handy for multiple uses!!! It’s one of those gifts that just keeps giving – whether going to a craft retreat, a football game, the beach, or a lake visit. Funny story – the cart came about AFTER we had attended a craft retreat in Lincoln, NE and all we had to load our supplies with was the hotel suitcase carts. FYI – if you’ve never used them they are not easy to drive!!! This event happened the fall of 2020, so after easing Covid restrictions a bit but still limitations on eating establishments, etc. It was a bit of a challenge, between finding food places and driving carts, and then the weather moving in with sleet and such, BUT WE MADE IT home safe and sound! I was so excited when she gifted me with the folding wagon because that meant our next trip at the retreat would be much easier wheeling in our supplies – but we haven’t been back to Lincoln since!!! LOL!

Yesterday I shared a shape card for our Techniques group, and I wanted to share this one as well using our scallop Christmas Cheer dies for the card base!!! I chose to make my card horizontal, but it would have equally been cute as a vertical card for standing.

I used the Timeless Christmas DSP, centering my color combo on Pecan Pie, Poppy Parade, and Basic White. I love Poppy Parade – it’s such a bright, happy color!!!! In past years I would have used Crumb Cake instead of Pecan Pie, but I like the color change. For the greeting and verse, I used the stamp sets Home For Christmas and also Advent Labels. I love the cute line work of the icing stamps!

The gingerbread man was found both on the card front as a die cut, then stamped on the inside of the card with the loopy icing swirl stamps. I thought this fun card deserved the big bold greeting as well. I normally shy away from stamp sets with bold greetings, instead preferring smaller fonts, but I’ve used the stamp “Comfort and Joy” multiple times this year. Probably it’s the whole “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” carol that appeals to me, the music teacher!

Final Thoughts….

We’ve a busy weekend ahead as we prepare to celebrate Ben’s 2nd birthday party at Long Branch Lake. The kids rented a shelter house by the large playground, and the weather is suppose to be gorgeous. Pool Boy will be running down to Alma to pick up his momma for the weekend as well. We will be celebrating her birthday too – her 94th I believe. You’d never know it to look at her though!
