Tomorrow is the start of the Italy trip, and I’m excited as well as a bit anxious. I know this trip will be incredible with the sights, the foods, the time gathered with friends, but I’m anxious as well. Pool Boy chose to skip out of this trip so that means we will be 10 days and half a world apart. I know Megan and the girls will be coming to visit him, Evan and family will be in and out as well as including him for occasional meals. Church friends will be checking in as well as some of my stamping friends, so I know he will be ok, but that anxiety thing runs deep in me.
I wanted to share my itinerary with you, and depending how this week has gone I hope to have some short posts most days I’m away, but everything is scheduled ahead – no laptop is going this time. You will also be able to see posts on FB with pictures.
- October 31 – I fly from St. Louis to Chicago, then on to Rome, Italy
- November 1 – I land in Rome, and will be met at the airport, then transfer to our hotel. This day we are on our own, so I will hang close to the area around the hotel until my friends arrive early afternoon.
- November 2 – we tour St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican
- November 3 – it’s a walking tour of Rome with the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps, and the Colloseum
- November 4 – we travel to Montecatini Terme where the rest of the group will join us. This hotel looks to be incredible, and we will remain there the entire week, so no hauling the suitcases back and forth between bus/hotel!
- November 5 – we’ve a day trip to Lucca known as Tuscany’s best kept secret. This will also include a winery tour
- November 6 – We will spend the day at San Gimignano
- November 7 – we are off to Florence and a paper marbling demonstration
- November 8 – we have a relaxing day at Montecatini Terme to enjoy the spas, the hot springs, and scrapbooking with our group
- November 9 – time for the famous leaning tower of Pisa and an Italian cooking class
- November 10 – our final day in Italy and free time
- November 11 – We depart for home, flying from Rome to Munich, then back to Chicago
Please say prayers for safe travels ahead, and that Pool Boy behaves himself! And then there’s poor little Shelby – the canine diva. She’s a nut if she loses me in the house, so after 10 days she will be a basket case for sure!
