We are up to our Christmas Card Class projects for September! This grouping of cards has two fun fold ideas, a card using strips of DSP to stretch farther, and a bit of traditional Santa theme as well. My DSP choices are still hovering between Timeless Christmas, A Little Christmas, a scraps from A Stitched Tradition, but I’ve added a specialty DSP – Winter Dreams. Winter Dreams is a great DSP choice, but with the whole 6 sheets of DSP for the same price as those with 12 sheets, it’s a bit more pricey! But, when you can pair strips of DSP with an embossed background you can stretch that paper without having to break the bank. I love the snowflakes showing on the Secret Sea background, and my strips of DSP were 1 1/4 inches wide by 3 inches long, using all three of the patterns (along with one from A Stitched Tradition package) I ended up with ample scraps for some future projects.
In fact, I will be using the Winter Dreams for a WINTER SAMPLER late in December, and I purchased multiple sheets on one of those patterns from our friend Chris to have for a 12×12 background! Thank you Chris!!!!!
Have you a favorite Christmas card yet???: One that you might want to create with your supplies???

Day 5 of our Tuscany Journies!
Today’s travels take us to Lucca, Italy – some call this Tuscany’s best kept secret. Lucca is considered a “walled pedestrian-friendly city” which I think translates to “be prepared to walk!” The walls of the city were built in the 16th century and are completely intact today. The piazza – or public square – has been built directly over the ruins of an ancient 1st century Roman amphitheater, and I can see me sitting here taking it all in. I’m fascinated by villages and communities where the heart of the city is the public square. Many of these piazzas are built around large cathedrals and churches that are so important to the people, and merchants and restaurants surround the edges of the piazza for people to gather and enjoy spending time together.
This is something we miss in our communities – this open, gathering space for social interaction between people of all ages. When we were in Germany we spent time in many of these areas, simply taking in the sights and sounds of the people. Pool Boy would find an open air cafe and purchase drinks, then I would pop in and out of surrounding shoppes, then pop back to sit, then go again. I promise you I will find several places like this where I will simply immerse myself in the atmosphere and enjoy the people.
Our afternoon will be spent at a local winery to learn the art of winemaking, the dinner will be included where they pair local varieties of wine with regional foods. I’m not much into wine, but I will be the foods!
Have a great day doing whatever makes you happy, and God Bless!
