It’s Monday and for many the end of summer is here. I know, IT’S JUST the middle of August so it’s not over! But there’s something bittersweet about mid-August with school teachers heading back to buildings, open houses for students to meet teachers and staff, and kids realizing that school is starting soon. With the start of school. our weeklong vacations are over, the fight to get kids into a more structured bedtime/morning routine begins, and we have to accept that the lazy days of summer are coming to an end.
But there are things to look forward to as well! There’s an excitement in the air of going “back to school” for teachers and students. You get to see your friends again – for BOTH teachers and students!! Time to grab those school supplies, new shoes, and new clothes as well. The excitement of moving up to the next grade, and building a connection with your teacher – these are usually good experiences. By the week after Labor Day everyone will be rolling along and the newness worn off. The educational honeymoon is over! The party’s over and the work begins.
OK – enough rambling!
One Of My First “Gotta Have It” Stamp Sets – JOYFUL TIDINGS!

I’m already in Christmas card mode and with the arrival of my holiday preorder I’ve spent time playing and creating! The stampset JOYFUL TIDINGS took my eye first thing in the catalog. It’s a simple set, with some beautiful greetings and fonts, and just two images, but I love the elegance of the open wreath idea for both. Joyful Tidings is perfect for Christmas BUT also sympathy and Thanksgiving as well. I felt it needed a bow, so I turned to the Bauble Blooms bundle to add a simple stamped image. Circle dies are both from the Stylish Shapes as well as Spotlight On Nature.

And take a look at the beautiful Cherry Cobbler snowflake gem!! This is a beautiful embellishment coming from the Online Exclusives available in September. We rarely get a Cherry Cobbler gem. They also come in clear and Pretty Peacock as well, and even though it’s a “snowflake” it doesn’t shout winter, does it? They can be used anytime of year for sure!
Final Thoughts….
Pool Boy and I will be prepping for the upcoming August 19 Christmas card class this week, and we decided we needed to get ONE MORE LUG of peaches if they are still available, so that’s on the agenda for Tuesday. Wednesday is Tech Class, then Thursday and Friday I’ll be packaging not only the Christmas card class but also the Fruit Basket Upside Down class as well. My week is planned out with the work spread out through the week, and my calendar is full of “to do” lists daily. Instead of listening to students sing I will be listening to an audiobook while cutting cardstock, instead of typing lesson plans I’ll be typing up posts and tutorials, and instead of music classes it will be papercrafting classes and kits.
You see, as a teacher I liked structure, routines, and plans as well. But since I’m retired, the educational honeymoon never ends! Until next time, keep stamping, keep crafting, and God Bless!!!
