They say that “variety is the spice of life”, and for me that holds true, other than with Stampin’ Up supplies. Our daughter Megan asked me once if I was going to be a Stampin’ Up snob, and I can answer without a doubt YES! I only purchase from a box store if I need something that Stampin’ Up doesn’t offer, because I try to use available products in my classes and events.
But when it comes to other things in life, I like variety. I listen to multiple genres of music. I may have three different books going at one time – an audio book, an electronic book, AND a hardback book – and they may all be different topics since currently I have a murder mystery, a contemporary romance, and a historical book started.
So when it comes to my papercrafting, I need variety there as well. I love creating cards, but I also enjoy framed art, gift ideas, and holiday decorations. So this week, we are going to spend time on creating anything that isn’t a card!!!

After the 30 samplers for church last week, I have a ton of scraps from the Gathering Together DSP. And we are talking large scraps that are 4 x 8 inches or larger. Now I could turn around and make a ton of cards with the ton of scraps, but instead I used those scraps to create the patchwork pumpkin above!
Using the Gathering Leaves embossing folder, I embossed large scraps then cut into 1 inch strips. I wanted to use a variety of DSP patterns, so I embossed strips of both sides of the paper. I applied our multipurpose liquid glue to large areas of the wooden pumpkin (purchased from Amazon but check out the Dollar stores as well!) and began layering strips. I alternated patterns and strips to create the image above. I saved the vine piece for the end and overlapped pieces of the green DSP pattern to finish.
Simply turn over and snip the ends of the DSP close to the wooden cutout. then taking a 4 sided nail file from the Dollar store (I do love those stores!!!), I carefully sanded the edges to remove the excess DSP. Add a bow, maybe a label with a greeting and you can display on an easel or hang on a door!!! Only cost is the wooden cutout and your time cause the paper is already scraps!

Final Thoughts….

It’s been a little bit since I shared a snippet with our favorite oldest grandson Cal. He is growing so quickly, and has become quite the independent little guy. I found out the hard way that he prefers to undress himself for bedtime (hence the meltdown because Nana took his shirt off him instead!). These balance bikes or strider bikes are a great way to start learning to ride a bike. And now his little bike will soon be used by our favorite youngest grandson Ben!
Pool Boy and I are still recovering from the late night drive home after the Chiefs’ game Sunday. We both felt we deserved extra brownie points for making it to therapy and exercising at 8 am Monday even though we only gave about 50% effort!!!! I’ll be back on Wednesday with another project in our series of “Anything But A Card”, but until then, keep stamping, keep crafting, keep creating, and God Bless!!!
