Color Combos – What’s Your Faves?

I am predictable when it comes to color in my clothing. If you were to look in my closet you would see the same colors repeating over and over. I have two go-to neutrals which are black and blue. When it comes to spots of color you will see blues, reds, corals, mixed with whites. there might be a purple or two item thrown in there, but the majority of my clothing are those colors – black, blue, red, white, and corals.

Obviously, the whole red thing has to do with my ridiculous number of Chiefs shirts, but any combination of those colors works for me. All of my purses are – drum roll! – black. And you can never have too many black sandals and shoes either. When we head to Branson in a couple of weeks I’m sure to add another pair or two to my closet!

So it’s no surprise that when I look at my papercrafting I tend to go with navy and black for my neutrals as well. And yes, I use lots of Real Red, Calypso Coral, and Flirty Flamingo. I have to make a conscious effort to turn to other colors sometimes because it’s easy to get in a rut.

So when this cute little snowman from the Jar Of Joy stampset showed up in the online exclusives this month, I wanted to create this card with black, white, and red. Problem is where can I get black DSP????

I went to the online store to check out patterned paper choices, which was much easier than thumbing through all of the dsp packages. I wanted two choice that had a lighter background, and two that were on the darker side. I met both of these goals with Botanical Textures and Lovely Garden. In fact, I found another pattern from Botanical Textures to use in my Stamp ‘n Sip project for tomorrow night – a Halloween sampler!!! And I turned to my favorite embossing folder – Forever Plaid 3D – to add interest and texture to my black and white patterns.

Final Thoughts….

It would have been really nice to have a beautiful new Christmas DSP available to use during the month of July, but we can work with what we have. Just as with 4th of July cards, we have to think outside the box. I paired the black/white DSP with a white card base and Real Red mats. The label comes from the Textured Note dies with Real Red and Memento Black inks. And when it comes to the gems and ribbons – I went and searched out my stash to see what I have.

When prices drop on embellishments, you will find me stashing up on colors we use often, such as the red ribbons and gems. I try my hardest to use only current DSP, dies, and stamps but those embellishments are fair game to me. I’m NOT going to stock up on colors I rarely use OR which are In Colors! I stock up for the basics – black, white, red, and blue.

As for the coral – it’s in my color scheme! LOL! Here’s hoping you have a great day doing whatever makes you happy, and God Bless!
