Here in rural northeast Missouri we are fortunate to have a large biofuel plant run by Poet Bioprocessing. Poet has numerous plants throughout the mid west states with Macon being the first bioethanol plant established in the state of Missouri. Seeds Of Change is a mission program supported by POET Bioprocessing and is comprised of 3 different components – Mission Hope, Mission Grow, and Mission Breathe. Together, they are working to transform education, agriculture, and environmental conditions in impoverished areas such as Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, and other developing countries.
Members of the POET workforce have the opportunity to participate on these mission trips to make a positive impact through the Seeds Of Change program. Up to 30 employees may participate, and each has been given a small stipend as well as additional vacation days from POET, with the understanding that they need to raise the bulk of their fees to participate.
Meet Melissa Miller, A Laboratory Technician At POET
Melissa Miller has been working with the POET Bioprocessing Plant in Macon for 15 years and is preparing to participate in the Seeds Of Change program the spring of 2023. To help her raise funds she has had numerous bake sales as well as a BBQ cookoff and her fund raising is well underway.
Those of us close to Melissa know she loves Christmas – baking cookies, decorating, and has even hosted Santa and Mrs. Claus Christmas parties for her friends’ children. As a way to help her with funds, I would like to offer you a chance to participate – where ever you are located in the United States. As an Independent Stampin’ Up demonstrator for 10 years, I have used my business as a way to help others – through donations of my commissions, collecting for our local food bank, and providing cards for local groups such as Hospice, cancer treatment centers, and Ray Of Hope. Melissa has set a worthwhile but daunting goal to raise these funds to participate in the Seeds of Change Program in the spring of 2023.
