Tuesday is my busy day of the week. I start the day at 5:30 first with my devotion then a quick trip into the craft room followed by a quick hustle through the morning routine and off to school no later than 7:10. Add in a fast trip through McDonald’s then the 25 minute drive to school and I’m walking in to the SPED staffing right at 7:45. Ok, truth – I’m going 5 miles over the speed limit to get there but I’m thankful it’s a 4 lane highway and traffic is fairly light!
Needless to say, I’m always in a rush to also get the Tuesday post ready! Luckily for me this is a quick fun fold with fast assembly. Choosing the color combo was easy since I am using the Heartwarming Hugs DSP again this week!
Measure Twice, Cut Once!
This fun fold begins with a piece of Real Red card stock 8 and 1/2 x 5 and 1/2. The scoring marks are what makes this an unusual card – starting with the 8 and 1/2 measurement at the top, score at 2 inch, and again at 3 and 1/8 inch. TURN your card stock around 180 degrees, and score the other end at 2 inch, and 3 and 1/8 inch as well.
Your side mats of Pear Pizzazz are 1 and 7/8 x 5 3/8 (cut 2 of these). The DSP is 1 and 3/4 x 5 and 1/4 (again, cut two). The center Pear Pizzazz panel is 2 and 1/8 x 5 and 1/4, and the DSP panel is 2 inch x 5 and 1/4.
The small greeting piece looks like it’s a square but the measurements are slightly different – the Real Red mat is 3 x 3 and 1/4, Pear Pizzazz is 2 and 7/8 x 3 and 1/8, the DSP is 2 and 3/4 x 3.
Sponge Daubers are a Necessity, People!
Do you use sponge daubers???? If not you really need to because adding the tone on tone of the matching ink to the paper gives contrast and texture to your card punched trees! I started first with the lighter color of Pear Pizzazz ink on the row of Pear Pizzazz trees, then switched to the dark color of Mossy Meadow on the Mossy Meadow trees – two inks, one sponge dauber!
And when you are finished, simply throw into a container and give your daubers a soak in warm water over night, rinse, squeeze out and airdry! Ready to use the following week with no ink residue except for the pigment stain on the dauber!
The Perfect Place to Sign!
For the inside of the card – really it’s the back for you to sign – I cut a Basic White card stock mat the same measurement as the front panel of Pear Pizzazz – 2 and 1/8 x 5 and 1/4. The card folds down the our normal size of 4 and 1/4 by 5 and 1/2 and goes into our regular envelopes.
This card came together quickly with simple cutting, scoring, the punched trees, and just a few stamps to create an interesting fun fold! I was rushed to get the photos taken while I still had day light so hopefully they are ok! I hope you give it a try – this would also make a great card for a mystery stamp project! Until next time – when I hopefully am not so rushed! – keep stamping, keep crafting, and God Bless!
