I am a creature of structure. I like to carry my calendar journal so I know what to do what day. I like having a skeleton calendar so I know the first Tuesday of every month is Stamp ‘n Sip, the first and second Wednesdays of the month are techniques, bible studies fall on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so Mondays, the rest of my Wednesdays, and Fridays work best for appointments, side trips, lunch with friends, yada yada yada. As for my daily list, OF COURSE I have one-or two! I make it the night before so I hit the ground running.
Pool Boy is almost the exact opposite! His philosophy is “we’ll do something, even if it’s wrong”. Spontaneity is how he rolls, and if it’s not done by noon it’s probably not going to happen. He can drop everything when a friend calls and asks him to run an errand, and he hasn’t a clue if a dr. appointment suggestion will work without first asking his “secretary” – me! – to check his calendar. You’d think we would be in constant conflict because we are so different, but it works. My structure provides the boundary fencing around his spontaneity mentality, and as long as he stays in my field of structure we work well. On occasion he’ll throw me a curve ball that goes outside the structure fencing and causes a scheduling conflict, but I try to work some restructuring magic and adjust everything, and we are both happy. It’s how we roll.

So this week and next I’m marking things off my to go list as we head to March. I’ve got my prep for OnStage swaps ready to assemble, my cards for the church card ministry ready to package, and yesterday I received my Paper Pumpkin kit in the mail so I could create my alternate card for the display board at our event.

You will rarely find me creating alternate cards with my Paper Pumpkin – it’s the structure, directions, etc. thing. But the last two kits I’ve tried to jump the structural fencing and do my own thing. My friend Johnna Bixenman Clarke loves doing this with all of the kits, seeing how far she can stretch the supplies into different card ideas. She has doubled and tripled her cards by simply cutting bases apart into mats and adding other materials to create a variety of cards.
For the card above, I cut the card base into 2 mats, took the DSP flap off the envelope, and even cut the floral oval punch out in half – the full one can be seen in the pamphlet under the card with the bunny. Those two little snips to that oval bout did me in!!!!

Above are the cards we will be making with our Bring On The Flowers Card Class next week. This class is available both in person on Tuesday, the 24th in Macon, MO OR as a kit by mail with emailed tutorials. Card kits are free with minimum orders from Stampin’ UP! Friday – tomorrow – is the final day for signing up, so be sure to reach out to be added to the class roster.

FREE SHIPPING continues through Friday night on qualifying orders of $75 or more. This is a great time to stock up on our everyday essentials, AND be sure to use those bonus codes you received on qualifying orders during January. Click on the link below to access my online store:

So how do Pool Boy and I work together preparing for my classes since he runs most of my dies? Seeing that the structure and spontaneity thing could really come to blows! He knows when I want them ready to package, and I know to let him do his thing, and he’ll get them done before I need them.
It’s how we roll. Until tomorrow, have a great day doing whatever makes you happy, and God Bless.
