July’s Christmas Card Class – Register By Friday, July 17!

There’s something about the Christmas Suite A Stitched Season that went live on July 1. I love the color combinations and the patterns, but it goes deeper than that. I look at that DSP and I think of my mom.

My mother was quite the seamstress. Through the years she sewed our clothing, as well as for the grandchildren. When my sister was married she sewed her wedding dress and used our ping pong table as her cutting table for the material. (FYI – after that wedding dress she informed me we would be buying my wedding dress!). After awhile, she moved from clothing to quilts, and everyone of us has at least one handmade quilt made by her. My sister compiled a book with all of her quilts photographed and we all have a copy, titled “Stitched With Love”.

For some smaller and faster projects she loved to make table runners, placemats, and wall hangings. I had runners for every season, and the grandkids had all sorts of wall hangings to display in their rooms as well. In fact, Evan had one that was dinosaurs that I need to get out cause grandson Ben LOVES them. We could simply show her a picture and she was pretty good at figuring it out without a pattern. I have the only Christmas skirt she made – guess that was about as bad as the wedding dress since it was the only one!

So when I look at the patterns in the Stitched Season DSP, I see things that my mom would have made. She would have loved these patterns, and before long she’d have been turning them into runners, such as the Old Olive card above, and the one on the far right!

Remember – The JULY CHRISTMAS CARD CLASS is still open, and you can register thru FRIDAY, JULY 17! Make 8 cards – two of each of the cards above! – and the class is available both IN PERSON as well as BY MAIL! The IN PERSON class is scheduled for Tuesday, July 21 at Zion Lutheran Church in Macon, MO. from 1:30 pm – 7 pm. Those attending in person will place orders that night at class, and the card kits are free.

Final Thoughts….

We are currently dog sitting for Evan’s dogs while they are out of town. They’ve been relatively easy to watch since all they do is eat, sleep, and go outside to the bathroom. But you’d best be watching where you step cause there’s no telling where they decide to sleep, and they will trip you for sure – they each make about 4 of Shelby!

This week is all about Doctor’s appointments, Stamp ‘n Sip, and prepping for upcoming classes. And towards the end of the week there is a fish fry also on the calendar. Until tomorrow, here’s hoping you find time to craft and create, and God Bless!
