Do you find yourself keeping strips of DSP because you MIGHT need them??? Then when you go to your DSP package it’s loaded with little pieces you’ve yet to use???
That was my focus for the Techniques classes this month. We paper crafters have trouble throwing those pieces out, as I’m sure seamstresses do with material. I know my mom – who started making our clothes as kids, then the grandkids, to finally creating quilts, wall hangings, and table runners – couldn’t throw things out because she might need that for a later project. And more times than not she did turn to those pieces for creating.

So today’s card is made out of strips!
- The white card base is 8 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches, scored at 4 1/4 inches
- The Secret Sea mat is 4 1/8 by 5 3/8 inches
- The white mat is 4 by 5 1/4 inches, then embossed with Dreamy Snowflakes Hybrid Folder
- The 6 strips of DSP come from the DSP package Winter Dreams found in the Online Exclusives – it has texture!!
- Cut the strips in 3 by 1 1/4 inch strips
- The label is created by the Advent Labels punch
Super easy, super quick!!!! I used a square punch to cut the pennant end of the strips, simply adhered the strip in a straight horizontal line (the last one on the far right is trimmed off even with the embossed panel.
I used Secret Sea ribbon across the top line of the strips, then punched a label from white and also Secret Sea for the greeting. I cut the Secret Sea label in half vertically, then adhered to the back of the white label to create the mat look.
Cards like this are super easy to duplicate and can be used for multiple occasions.

Very same card, different products!!!! Both super cute and super easy.
- Card base is Very Vanilla
- The dark base is Early Espresso
- I used the Softly Woven Embossing Folder – you have to buy this folder if you still haven’t!!! It’s my fave!
- All of the DSP’s are from the Painted Patterns DSP packages for our Color Collection.
- Same label punch, but I matted the Very Vanilla label horizontally instead of vertically.
Easy cards created with those strips of DSP that we just can’t throw away! FYI – If my momma were still here, she would take the design for the card above and could easily duplicate it and make a small wall hanging. Just sayin!

There’s still time to register for our HALLOWEEN EASEL CARD CLASS!
- IN PERSON CLASS will meet THURSDAY, September 17 at Zion Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall beginning at 1:30.
- The MAILED KIT will be scheduled for pickup on Saturday, Sept. 19. Orders need to be placed in my online store no later than September 14 so I have time to prep cards.
- REGISTRATION closes on Monday, Sept. 14 – you can text me at 660-651-6997 or email me at flickoftherist@gmail.com.
Just like my two cards above, these 5 fun folds are ones you will want directions for future cards just by changing the DSP, card stock colors, and themes! These would be great for men’s cards using the Waterside Retreat Suite! Our how about special Christmas cards for close family??
Have a great day today doing whatever makes you happy. Go pull out some strips of DSP and put some easy and quick cards together to share with others, and God Bless!
