A Halloween Scene For Our Monthly Frame Insert!

Good morning and happy Monday!!! We had a busy weekend with attending the crop, a birthday party, and Jim’s mom visiting, and we’ve a busy week ahead as well, so let’s get started on today’s post!

I wanted to share the Halloween frame insert for Stamp ‘n Sip last week! This was such a fun project to create, using the Welcome Noel dies, Oh My Fright dies, and the Painted Pumpkin dies. Our frame measures 6×12 inches -you can locate it on Amazon! – and our starting point is the background.

I know there are mixed reviews on the two-tone card stock. Some people simply do not like it because of the white core, others do not care for the weight nor feel as compared to our regular card stock. I am thankful though to have paper available in 12 x 12 sheets for our frame backgrounds! I do like the varied shades available with the two sided paper, and it’s very easy to emboss a 6×12 piece with any of our wider embossing folders.

To add color to the background, I began adding ink with our blending brushes. I started with Crushed Curry ink about 2 inches from the bottom and layered on added color. Keep in mind, since it is tone on tone, you may have trouble seeing it, so it takes time to add the depth. Next, I added Pumpkin Pie above the Crushed Curry, blending the inks together to get rid of the line between the shades. Finally, I started at the top adding Blackberry Bliss, blending down to the Pumpkin Pie. After the blending brushes, I embossed the background with the Swirls of Magic folder – you need this friends!!! If you do not have it, watch for it to come back in stock and grab it!

By running the Welcome Noel die with the small buildings twice, I was able to create a horizon line. And how did I create the Haunted House???

The Welcome Noel dies have three different house dies available, and by stacking two of them together you can get a larger home! I simply snipped the chimney off the bottom house, then glued together. I filled in the windows with scraps of Daffodil Delight to create the lights inside the home.

Throw in some trees, pumpkins, ghosts, and bats and you have a great scene for Halloween!!!!

Final Thoughts….

Well, here’s a view you don’t see often – our grandson Ben WITHOUT his left thumb in his mouth! Hard to suck the thumb when you have chocolate cake and pudding to eat! Ben is all about dinosaurs, so he had a “Two-asaurus” birthday party with dinosaur pinatas, dinosaur egg hunts, and treats of dinosaur bones (pretzel sticks with mini marshmallows on the end then dipped in white chocolate).

There were plenty of kids running around to keep parents busy, and enough presents to keep Ben busy as well. He ended up with so many new dinos to add to his collection, specially designed books, and several outfits for later in the winter. Nana and Papa delivered his new sandbox to his house earlier in the week, with a lid that folds back to make benches that he can share with brother Cal. Mom and Dad will have to fill it with the sand!
