A Couple Of Days Of Shaped Cards With Our Dies!

Saturday I basically vegged the day away recovering from our trip. Use to be I was able to get up and just go like always after trips and long days, now I prefer to take it easy for awhile. Sunday after church I went to the craft room and started designing for upcoming events, like Stamp ‘n Sip and this week’s Tech class. Had to be finished by the time of the Chiefs’ game on TV though. Monday found Pool Boy running my dies for Stamp ‘n Sip while I finished up with the card class.

I decided my focus for Tech classes this month would be using our dies to create shaped cards. Anytime we can add another use for our dies it’s a win! I love to discover the versatility of our products, and creating folded cards by simply folding the card stock and cutting through the two layers adds another layer of interest to our paper crafting.

The star of this card begins with the Party Banner dies! I cut a piece of Blackberry Bliss card stock 8 1/2 by 11 inches, scored at 5 1/2 inches, and folded on the score line. By lining up the banner die so that the fold is UNDER the straight edge of the die I’m able to cut a card with the die!!! You can use many of our dies in this way, as you will see tomorrow with the scalloped rectangles.

I paired Lost Lagoon with the Blackberry Bliss for the color combination, and turned to Blackberry Bliss for the ink. The DSP is from Autumn Opulence, and the wreath stamp and Happy Thanksgiving stamps came from the Thanks And Giving stamp set. I used the blends to add color to the wreath, then cut the wreath out with the Merriest Tags die set. There are no coordinating dies with the Thanks And Giving stamp set, but with a small bit of fussy cutting with our paper snips, who needs a die???

I grabbed a piece of Gold metallic thread (retired) from my stash and used the Gold Adhesive Backed gems still sitting on my craft table from yesterday’s creation.

The Church Ladies’ Quilts On Display For Sunday’s Service!

Sunday our church sanctuary was beautiful! Over 70 quilts were finished this year by our volunteer ladies for Lutheran World Relief and were displayed throughout the fellowship hall as well. We have a dedicated group of ladies who gather monthly for 4-5 hours cutting, sewing, and finishing off these blankets that will be shared with others throughout the US and the world. Material is purchased but also donated, and each year they improve on the number completed.

I tried my hand at helping a couple of years ago, and I’m much better at cutting paper than material. I’m so impressed with their workmanship and dedication, but it’s best for me to stay on the sidelines when it comes to material and sewing – that gene did NOT come to me from my mama.

Benefit For The Hager Family During The Month Of October!

Just a reminder that all of my commissions during the month of October will be going to the Hager family from our community. Joey was involved in a tragic accident and will need extensive months of recovery time, and I’m hoping we will be able to offset some of their expenses. This includes orders for classes, In Person and Speed Bingos, clubs, and any online orders. Currently we are over $250 already earmarked for them and it’s just the 5th day of October!!
