This is one of my favorite weeks of the year – the Thanksgiving Holiday! This holiday brings wonderful memories of my mom and dad that I carry in my heart from past years. My mother was a wonderful cook and she would begin preparations a couple of days in advance to create her delicious Thanksgiving meal with the full spread – turkey, her cornbread dressing, noodles, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, gravy, her home made rolls, and relish tray along with pumpkin pie with real whipping cream, maybe a coconut or lemon pie for my dad, and probably a chocolate cake. Everything was made from scratch and made with love and made in abundance. To this day my menu remains the same in honor of her except for the desserts – its homemade chocolate and pecan pies. Oh, and the Rhodes rolls, and Reame’s noodles. Those skills I never perfected! Sorry Mom! Our house was full of family and friends because food made by May (my momma) was a treat for everyone. I miss them both dearly.
