Happy Valentine’s Day to each of you!!!! Valentine’s Day was always a favorite in school with the MANY deliveries of balloons, stuffed animals, candy containers and flowers sent by parents. The janitors would set up multiple tables outside the classrooms for all of the deliveries. That’s not even taking into account the little Valentine cards for classmates, the heart shaped candies, and the competition to see who has the most creative Valentine box. It is the perfect holiday to celebrate in the middle of dreary, wintry February and the more red, pink, and hearts you can wear, the better it is.

For many, Valentine crafting begins in January, creating beautiful cards to bring joy to others. The cards above were all designed by our friend Linda Ellis and her crew of workers as a way to lift the spirits of others during these cold days of winter. Linda’s crew – and I’m not even going to try to list all of her helpers – were assigned times to come and create these cards with her. She is well known in our community for creating beautiful cards that are for sale in our hospital gift shop. All money collected from these cards goes to the Hospital Ladies’ Auxilliary funds. Each month the cards rotate and change so she keeps a steady supply of new, creative cards available for purchase.

This grouping of almost 100 cards were designated for our local Senior Center. She and her crew create cards to share with the Meals On Wheels participants, the hospital, and even area nursing homes. Her method of enlisting crew members creates a fun environment to gather and chat, making the work go quickly as well! And I’ve figured out her method to the scheduling thing – if someone different is working every couple of hours, she has someone new to chat with!!!
Final Thoughts….

Our son’s family came over Thursday night for dinner, and I had all of the Mardi Gras beads sorted on the dining room table. Guess who decided he had to wear them??? My goodness, Cal just kept coming back for more beads!!! He loved the ones with the medallions so here’s a portion of the ones he claimed. Isn’t it funny how little things like this brings joy? He also had several new cars to add to his collection, but the free beads were the hit for the night.
I hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day and you have time to craft and create! Have a great weekend, and until next time, God Bless!
