Well, as anticipated we were unable to fish Thursday. Our airbnb sits right on a point and when we saw the waves popping over the barrier out our sunroom windows no one was interested in going. It wasn’t even a let down when our charter captain called to cancel since Wednesday’s fishing went so well. We already had our alternative plan set, so by 10 am we were on the ferry heading to Put In Bay. Best possible way to enjoy the island – a golf cart!!!! We went all over the island, checking out homes, nature centers, ice cream and chocolate shoppes, as well as the tourist stores for those one of a kind mementos. We had lobster bisque for lunch and I can truthfully say it’s the best I’ve ever had. Delicious! I was worn out with the fresh air, the sunshine, and the ferry ride so I totally zonked heading back to mainland.
The Winterly Tree Tops Suite – DSP, Stamps, and Dies!!! Coming soon!!!!!
I’m sure by now you have already seen projects using the Winterly Tree Tops Suite that will be available in the upcoming Holiday mini catalog. One of the dies in the set is a frame of pine branches that is so cool. AND, Stampin’ Up demonstrated a fun technique to use with this die by using the negative part of the die! (the center that you simply punch out and throw away) DON’T THROW AWAY! Since this die is not symettrical, rotate it 180 degrees so the branch arrangement is different from the frame. Using a sponge dauber or blending brush add color to your background mat, then adhere the frame on top of the background. You get the illusion of a thicker area of pine branches simply by using the negative for the stencil!!!
The bird stamp and dies come from the bundle as well, so it was simply a matter of stamp, cut, and color to bring these birds to life. I love this set because there will be so many other uses besides Christmas! We will be able to get extra use during the winter months once the holidays are over, and I can see both sympathy and men’s birthday cards with this set.
Final Thoughts….
When we travel we tend to lean towards beach, mountains, national parks, out of the country – NOT Ohio. I was not expecting Port Clinton to be such a neat little town with the Lake, and I was so surprised to enjoy the quaint island as well! It was beautiful!!! The town had an upscale feeling WITHOUT all of the commercialism and people everywhere. As we were heading back to the ferry, a bachelorette party was getting ready to celebrate, a large family was unpacking their car with bicycles attached and ready for riding, people were enjoying the gorgeous park at the center of the square. I’m sure come the winter months this area is quiet with only the locals, but right now they are enjoying all of the tourists experiencing their beautiful area. We are already making plans to return ourselves!!! Until next time, have a great weekend, make time to create and craft, and God Bless!
