Last night at our Stamp ‘n Sip group we enjoyed celebrating the upcoming marriage of one of our favorite gals with a little surprise Stampin’ Up shower. We enjoyed a special drink, special wedding cake cupcakes, and of course we had to have a bit of fun by playing the toilet paper wedding dress competition! This morning I wanted to make a special card for the couple’s upcoming wedding and although it was a challenge I’m pleased with the final product.
Free Play – Important For Children AND Stampers!

Are you a free play kind of stamper or do you prefer to case someone else’s card? All educators know that free play is so very important to our student’s development and yes, even elementary music teachers allowed free play on rhythm instruments, recorders, and rhythm sticks! If I didn’t give them the chance to play for a few minutes when I put something in their hands I was sunk before I started my lesson. So very sorry for those people walking by my classroom the first time I let them blow into their recorders!! OMG!!! Take a lesson from child development – WE STAMPERS need to have free play too!!! So give yourself a chance to play and create and stamp. Might work, might not, but that’s how you learn to grow as a crafter as well!
Unscripted FB LIVES – An Idea Starts In My Head But Who Knows Where It Will End Up???

I’m structured enough that I need to have an idea in my head of where I want to go when paper crafting, but rarely do I have it completed ahead for my morning FB LIVES. Our bride is an elementary art teacher so I needed multiple things – texture, non-traditional, layers for dimension, repetition and contrast, media – all basics of elementary art! Both the bride and the groom are country kids and love nature so I needed a nature element as well. And she does love the bling – so touches of some sparkle and shine to finish off.
Check out the list of products I used on this card to see all of the layers of interest in creating. Was it the way I wanted it when I finished my FB LIVE? Nope. Had to keep tinkering with it and moving things around for balance (another art term there!) Will I do another one like it? Probably not, because it’s one of a kind just like the bridal couple! But it was created with love just for them!
Our Bride With Our Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Models!

Final Thoughts…
So give yourself some time to PLAY with your paper crafting supplies!!!! Don’t be intimidated to try things! Stampin’ Up has such a wide variety of materials and products available for all stampers – inks, watercolor, blends, glimmer and glitter – it’s there, you just need to cut loose and play. And if the project ends up differently from what you were thinking, that’s all good as well.
And one last word of advice – stay away from an elementary music classroom when they first get recorders and instruments in hands. The sounds aren’t pretty BUT they are loud!
Until tomorrow – God Bless!!!
