Since I’m here typing we obviously survived the overnight visit of our two little grandsons. Actually, they did an EXCELLENT job with the whole “staying over and sleeping in a bed that’s not mine” thing. We had very few tears on the part of toddler Ben, and none from Calvin. They settled in to playing, reading books, crafting, and watching the Disney channel. We had “sweet treats” before bedtime, and they had a case of the zoomies for a few minutes chasing each other around my kitchen island, before we settled down for the night.
So that whole “sweet treat” open ended thing came about because of sweet Ben. That boy loves his sweets, and you do NOT mention what the sweet treat is because he wants it NOW. The boy is a cookie monster in toddler clothing! We had peanut butter cookie balls in the freezer to bake, and I pulled out exactly 4 cookies – one for each of us. Ben scarfed his down pronto, then I saw his little hand reaching up to the island searching for another. Mind you, he can’t see what’s on top of the island, but he stood there so pitiful saying “cookie?” Nana almost caved. But knowing he needed no extra sugar I was able to get his mind on books and he thankfully forgot about another “sweet treat”.
Cal slept the entire night through, but Ben cried out in the early hours, and I did a no-no and brought him to bed with us. He went back to sleep pretty fast, but he preferred to sleep sideways on the bed. We have a king size bed, but that little boy took up half of it, and there was no moving him. Pool Boy and I each had about 1/4th of the bed, and this 2 year old commanded the rest of the bed! But, he was back asleep, and we made it to almost 7am, so I really shouldn’t complain. Mom and Dad were over to pick them up about 10am and we had long naps to rest and recuperate!
I’ve already started thinking about the October Christmas Card class, and this one has been circling my brain since before the September card class.
Can you see why???? I wanted to use the Cherry Cobbler, Smoky Slate stripe found in the DSP package A Little Christmas, and chose to focus on the snowman from the Christmas Crew bundle. And if you saw my card in person, you would see that the snowman is on a “wobble” that I used for the Halloween Easel Card Class. Those little wobbles add a cute touch to cards – I know for a fact both boys will love them!
I ran a couple of tree sets from the enclosed die while I ran the snowman die. Using blends I added color, and to create the snow on the ground, I simply tore a strip of white card stock and glued in place!
Once you find a card layout you like, why not repeat it a couple of times???? Repeating a layout doesn’t offend the craft gods or anything!
Remember these cards from a couple of weeks ago???? Different DSP, different embossing folders, same punch. And while you are busy making one and have the measurements in your head, it’s fast and easy to churn out a couple more!!!
Final Thoughts….
This week I will be flying to California for a short visit with some cousins, along with my sister and nephew – the one who’s going to drive the old ladies around Long Beach! I have short posts for each of the days ahead starting with pictures from our group meeting tonight for the holiday house kit. I’ll post my events for October, and finally there will be a part 1 and part 2 of a private event scheduled for an organization in our community.
