Gosh, it felt like the weekend went quickly, and Sunday morning I woke up to temps in the low teen’s. A BIG CHANGE from the low 60’s just a week ago! Saturday we piddled around doing a few household jobs and errands, then the remainder of my Saturday and Sunday afternoon were spent crafting for a couple of classes coming soon.
Today’s work is cutting and packaging card kits for the BRING ON THE FLOWERS class, then every so often I stop and work a little bit on taxes. I hates taxes. I hate gathering all of the info, going to the appointments, and of course paying the extra if need be. I have a tendency to procrastinate when the word “tax” comes around, so if I work on it in snippets it’s not nearly as overwhelming. Luckily I put together my own little tax worksheet form so I simply have to “fill in the blanks” with amounts after gathering everything. Believe me, cutting card stock will be much more enjoyable than the taxes.

When I designed this card on Saturday, the Sweet Jar stamp set was retired, BUT the French set Bocai a Confiserie was available as just the stamp set, and a bundle with the jar punch. I know some of you are thinking “why would I buy the stamp set in French?” if you speak English, but it is very hard to come by image stamps that are appropriate for St. Patrick’s Day. Once you have those stamps, most of us hold on tight because Stampin’ Up! doesn’t have a stamp set devoted just to this day. Several years ago they offered a 4 leaf clover punch and coordinating stamp set that sold out in two-three weeks from the popularity. I’ve had many ask if I have the punch in my retired boxes, and I doubt I get rid of it. I hold on tight to it!
I used the two stamps that fit into the sweet jar – included in the stamp set – but instead used them to create the border for the card. My ink choices???? Garden Green and Lemon Lime Twist!!!! And I PURPOSELY offset the stamped images so that the Lemon Lime Twist looks more like a shadow to the shamrocks.
The St. Pat’s greeting comes from the Reason To Celebrate stamp set we used for our January Speed Bingo goody bag. And where did the plaid DSP come from???? I pulled it from a recently retired DSP package called Lovely Garden. You have to go outside of the box to find DSP, greetings, images that are good for St. Patrick’s Day.
So whereas Christmas and Easter are easy to design because we have multiple stamp sets and suites devoted to them, lesser holidays such as St. Patrick’s Day, Veteran’s Day, and Independence Day you must think outside the box – with stamps, with paper, etc.
And if you have that 4 leaf clover punch and the coordinating stamp set, you have reached the end of the rainbow and have the pot of gold! Hold on tight to them!!!
I’ll be back tomorrow to share a banner created for St. Pat’s, and you will never guess where I turned for the DSP. WAY outside the box!!! Until then, have a great Monday, find time to stamp, to create, and to stamp. God Bless!!!!
