I’m thoroughly looking forward to the month of December – our Christmas cards are ready to address and sign, our Christmas trees are up and fully decorated, and most of my gift shopping is completed!!! Big Yay there!!! That means I can take the time to do the finishing touches that sometimes get done on the 23rd or not at all because I’m not usually this organized. I can focus on the little things like packaging treats for the neighbors, baking cookies to share with my evening bible study group, and the final decorative things like tucking in greenery and lights among my Santa collection on the mantel and making sure there is a new Christmas jigsaw puzzle here the week of Christmas for our kids to put together. And that means I can also thoroughly enjoy the Chiefs football games without feeling guilty cause I’m not home working!!! That’s another big yay there people!!!
Some Of The Best Chocolate Bars Around!! And Super Easy To Decorate!!!!
Did you know that some of the best chocolate bars around can be found at Aldi’s of all places???? They have the perfect sized candy bar – 5 bars per package – in several different varieties and they are delicious! The ones above are hazelnut and milk chocolate! To decorate, take a 4×6 inch piece of decorative paper and carefully curl it with your bone folder so it will go around the candy bar easier without needing a score line. Set the paper aside to attach the ribbon FIRST to your bars!
BEFORE putting the DSP sleeve around the bar, first cut a piece of ribbon that will go completely around your candy bar end to end. I tape the ribbon in place on the front and back of wrapper – don’t worry! The tape will be hidden but it helps to keep the ribbon attached. Using baker’s twine, tie a bow snuggly at the top of the ribbon, then clip all ends. The ribbon will slide the candy bar out of the DSP sleeve without tearing it!!!
Once your ribbon is in place, go back to your DSP that is now lightly curling. I put tear and tape on one end of the DSP, then wrapped it around my candy bar WITHOUT adhering to the bar wrapper. Pull the tear and tape strip off the adhesive, and adhere the end of the DSP onto the other end of DSP, like wrapping a Christmas gift but not taping to the gift itself. Once your DSP sleeve is in place you can pull on the ribbon ends and the candy bar will slide out of the DSP sleeve! Decorate with any cute punches or die cut labels to finish!
Final Thoughts…
So we head to KC tomorrow morning for our next Chiefs homegame and it’s going to be a cooler game, especially by the end. I’ve survived many a cold game over the 25 years we have been season ticket holders, but I’m always adding to my cold weather arsenal. When the time comes that I can not stay warm I will decide it’s time to start thinking about watching home games from my recliner. But I’m not there yet!! Thank goodness for battery operated gloves and socks – my first line of defense you might say.
Tomorrow’s menu is pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, chips, and two sheet cakes – the texas chocolate sheet cake and a peanut butter sheet cake – both equally delicious and I will have a piece of each since I made them! Yum!
My FB LIVE on Monday will have to be rescheduled later in the week since I have a card class gathering at my house Monday morning. Johnna Bixenman Clarke will be sharing a new card fun fold – she’s not shown it to me yet, but she always has winning cards to teach us! Until next time, keep stamping, keep crafting, watch and cheer our Chiefs, and God Bless!!!
