Good morning everyone from sunny, less-windy Destin!! Of course it waited until our last day for the wind to lay down some – isn’t that the way it works??? Unfortunately though, the swells are still dangerous so the guys’ deep sea fishing trip has been cancelled. Tomorrow we head back to Missouri – whether we drive home or stay in St. Louis overnight at our daughter’s is still being debated. I figure Pool Boy will make his mind up about the time we are passing the arch!
One More Lesson With The Color Wheel – Let’s Talk Analogous Colors!
I hope you have been emjoying the use of the color wheel in this week’s projects. We have worked triadic colors which are three colors evenly spaced on the wheel. We’ve also covered complementary colors – those colors that are opposite each other on the wheel. Today’s colors are analogous – meaning they are three colors from three main color neighbors. Check the outer ring of the wheel pictured below.
The color neighbors are RED VIOLET, RED, and RED ORANGE. Under those main colors the wheel branches into multiple hues or shades of each of these neighbors. To create an card with analogous colors, I selected the three shades of Petunia Pop, Melon Mambo, and Pretty In Pink.
I would NOT have paired Petunia Pop with these two shades of pink, but that little bit of contrast works well in the card above!!!! I used the stamp set Spotlight In Nature, and the ink I chose was Pretty In Pink.
At first glance you might think this was a monochromatic card, but monochromatic colors are two or three colors that are side by side. Melon Mambo and Pretty In Pink are monochromatic, but with the Petunia Pop thrown in that is no longer the case. Check out the picture below of these beautiful dresses hanging in a bridal store:
If you start on the left, you will find colors ranging from Petal Pink all the way to Blackberry Bless!! I didn’t go searching for this picture – it found me in the middle of the night while I was awake skimming through instagram! I’m just really proud of myself for being awake enough to take a picture of it for today’s post!!!
Even though we had a couple of glitches yesterday, orders are coming in for the Paper and Ribbon Shares from the Annual Catalog! These shares will give you 1/4 of each of the new consummable products from the upcoming Annual Catalog, packed in resealable poly bags and labeled with the colors used in the DSP. Final Thoughts….
Vacations are wonderful to enjoy, but arriving home after travels is also wonderful!!! I’ll be back on Monday, April 15 with a FB live, then next week’s work will center around Easter Lily samplers AND the Trucking Along Class. I’ll have two weeks at home, then I’ll be heading to Cancun with other Stampin’ Up demonstrators on the incentive trip while Pool Boy heads to South Dakota for his annual fishing trip. Have to say we are both looking forward to the long stretch of May thru July because we are home.
I hope you have a great weekend, can get outside to enjoy some spring weather, and as always, keep stamping, keep crafting, and God Bless!!!
