Thank you to those who reached out yesterday with birthday wishes!!! I appreciate each and everyone of them! I ended the night gathered with a close group of friends – all connected by stamping!!! My friend Johnna Bixenman Clarke arranged a special kit night for my birthday and it was lovely – with cards, food, and catching up with others. In school we teachers referred to those gatherings as “chit, chat, and chew”, BUT we can simply switch a word and make it “chit, CRAFT, and chew”!! What better combination could you have???
Patchwork Pieces With The Multi-Shades Of Blue!!!
I needed a special card today, so l combined the needed card with products selected from the annual catalog at the same time! The Patchwork Pieces dies – a true stand-alone die! – make a striking background for any type of card needed. The beautiful blue tones in the Countryside Inn DSP were perfect, creating an old, beloved handmade quilt. After adhering the pieces of the quilts to the mat, I used the Painted Textures embossing folder to embed all of the pieces in place. The greetings came from the stampset Crafting With You, and I continued the theme with Night Of Navy and Boho Blue inks.
Final Thoughts… Friends From Years Ago….
Johnna and I go back many years – like 1986, when I joined the staff of the local parochial school in Macon as the music teacher. Together we provided the music for every weekly student mass, first with me playing the piano, and Johnna on the organ. Later that year we switched the instruments and continued for five years creating music together. Music is such an important part of life. In-depth research has proven that music is one of the few things that activates and lights up the entire brain. Music is the last thing your brain recognizes in a traumatic brain injury, and it’s the first thing to return after healing. It truly is the universal language, connecting people from all cultures and nations.
But in my heart, crafting is there as well!!! Creating and crafting with our hands while gathering with others creates beautiful friendships and strong bonds that I treasure dearly. Each of those friendships weave together to create a beautiful, patchwork quilt of life that improves with age and care. Oh, we may get old and a bit worn, but I wouldn’t trade it for ANYTHING. Thank you friends!!!
Gather with some friends this weekend and craft together. Until next time, God Bless!
