One of my favorite things about Stampin’ Up! is the awesome color coordination of products. When I first started papercrafting I was always picking up ribbons and DSP at the big box stores, but nothing really matched. I’d have a ribbon I loved but nothing to go with it! Or a patterned paper with no coordinating card stock.
So, as my daughter calls me – I am a Stampin’ Up! snob. I no longer go to those big box stores for paper and embellishments, but simply turn to my catalog to see the colors listed on the back of the DSP packages. I have two file cabinet drawers filled with our 50 colors and try to keep every color on hand. BUT sometimes I’m not always in agreement with Stampin’ Up! My friend Pam was bemoaning this last week on our FB LIVE because she was struggling with colors not listed on the package of the Scenic Coast DSP. .

So here’s another card for next week’s Accountability group’s display. The package lists Pool Party and Misty Moonlight as the blue selections in the paper, but not this one!!! I tried them all – Pool Party, Misty Moonlight, Night Of Navy, Blueberry Bushel, even Balmy Blue (which is not one of my favorite colors) and I liked none of them with these two patterns!!! Instead, I turned to Azure Afternoon for my base, and basic white for my mats. In other words – DO NOT LIMIT YOURSELF to only the card stock choices listed on the DSP package!

And other than the hexagon die I found in the Paradise Garden Hybrid Embossing Folder package, I simply fancy snipped a couple of the fish from my DSP scraps to embellish. The white dots are from the Natural Matte dots, and I used the stamps found in the Waterside Retreat bundle.

The card on the right is from my “Meet The New In Colors” class today, and I simply cut it again using the Waterside Retreat DSP instead. After cutting all of the cards for the class participants, it was just a matter of figuring out the card stock selection and cutting another card. Getting multiple uses out of one card layout is a win, and it’s a fun fold as well!
Make things a bit easier for yourself, and reuse layouts for multiple cards. Each card is still unique, but not having to recreate the wheel every time when you go to design a card makes our paper crafting much more enjoyable and efficient as well.
