We had a full night with the first class for the Nativity shadowbox scene. My 9 x 5 foot itchen island was surrounded with people working, bar stools all around, and the island strewn with adhesives, lights, and trash but everyone went home excited with their home decor piece! I’ve heard from one this morning how much she loves hers, and several others text to tell me the HUSBANDS were impressed, so high praise indeed for their work!!
Today I’m devoting my time to a project we started the 2nd week of November, but due to shipping delays and Thanksgiving breaks along with our family gathering, it is just rolling out this week. Papercrafting feeds my crafting bug, but service projects feed my soul. Twenty years ago our church – Zion Lutheran in Macon, MO. – started a project called Coats For Kids. The purpose of this project was to be sure our Macon school children in need had winter coats. At the recommendation of the teachers and administration, coats are purchased for these kids in need so they have proper winter attire. During the 20 years, the program has raised over $26,000 and purchased over 1300 coats for children in need! Several years ago we added the schools of North and South Shelby to the program also. Funds for the program have come from individual donations, organizations, as well as grants from Thrivent.
Craft Kits For A Cause To Raise Funds For Coats For Kids!
During the next three weeks informational notebooks have been distributed in area schools, medical facilities, banks, and local industry to raise funds. I will be donating all my commissions from the online Kits Collection AND shipping them to you AT MY COST for a donation of $30 minus the kit cost. Select ANY kit you want from our online store (MINUS the birthday card organizer and Magnetic Board kits), mail me your kit selection, your address, and your $30 check and I will immediately have your kit mailed to you. Some kits are cheaper, some are higher in price, but the remaining amount MINUS the kit price will go directly to the Coats For Kids Project. You get a kit, shipped free from me, AND the opportunity to put a warm coat on a child in need.
Checks may be mailed to: Lola Rist, 1802 Oakhill Drive, Macon, MO 63552, and please make checks payable to Lola Rist. Paypal is also available on request. If you have questions about the program, want more info on the Craft Kits For a Cause, OR you wish to speak to our chairman of the Coats For Kids project, just email me and I will send you his name and number! Chuck has already purchased over 50 coats at the beginning of November, so no idea how many more will be added to the coat total. My email is flickoftherist@gmail.com
Thank you in advance for being part of this worthwhile program. Wishing you the best today my friends, and God Bless.
