We had a wonderful day on our fishing charter with Angling Unlimited! This was an excellent charter company, and we would highly recommend if you are interested for something other than simply walking around town. Pool Boy and I found them while searching on google, then I connected with a couple of other demonstrators to see if their guests would be interested in going.
In the picture above you have Pool Boy on the far left, Ben and Chandler Stout, Spencer Kimmey, and our guides Luke and Gunner. Luke’s father owns the charter company with 11 boats available for tours. Each of the 4 fishermen could catch 1 salmon, 1 ling cod, 1 halibut, and 2 rock fish. They filled their limit on everything except the salmon during the 6 hour trip. And by the time we were docked in Sitka, Gunner had all of the fish filleted – I wouldn’t be able to do that standing in a stationary spot and he did it while we were still on the water heading back to shore!

Here’s Pool Boy with his halibut. Jim totally enjoyed the trip seeing the wildlife and the rugged coastline and mountains as we worked our way around islands heading out 15-20 miles from shore. Towards the end he would hand the rod to Spencer so he would reel it in – let the kid do the work! Pool Boy’s smile would have been that big regardless of rather he caught a fish. He enjoyed watching the others just as much as if he were reeling them in.

Why did I post this picture? If you look just above water level on the right you will see a bunch of sealions relaxing. They could care less that we were zooming by in the boat. Other wildlife included eagles and a whale breeching. Our vessel was boarded fairly early in the day by the Wildlife Feds checking on licensing and catch. They were easy to talk with except one of them didn’t like my Chiefs sweatshirt I was wearing. He was a Bills fan – go figure!
Today’s trip includes the White Pass Railway with the Stampin’ Up attendees, then back on board heading towards Juneau. I hope to be back tomorrow with photos of the train ride, but until then have a great day, and God Bless!
