I have to say that the word SWEET isn’t the one that comes to mind for me when thinking about cherries. I think more of the word TART! Anyone else??? My mother made wonderful cherry pie and what I wouldn’t give to sit and watch her mix and roll out the crust, sweeten the cherries and thicken with tapioca, then assemble her top crust and dust with sugar before placing in the oven.. She always commented that she wasn’t sure if she sugared them enough. But for our family, her pie was always perfect. Jim’s aunt also had a dark cherry tree, and they were extremely tart. She would freeze up after picking, then bring out a small bag and cook on the stove with sugar – lots of it! – and cornstarch, and then serve them on top of a slice of rich, buttery pound cake with a huge dollop of whipping cream. Both were equally delicious, but TART was the word for both desserts and how I wish I could have one of them right now.
A Sweet Birthday Card For A Good Friend!

This is the time of year that I need to cull out retiring products to make way for new ones. I was needing a DSP with red and green, and my first thought was to reach for the Sweet Talk Valentine Paper from the retiring Jan-June mini catalog. I knew there was a bright striped pattern that had no visual connection with hearts AND I was using up product that is still available but soon disappearing!
A Close Up Look At The Cherries!

I needed something to make the cherries pop on the deckled frame label, so I reached for the new 2022-24 In Color Glimmer Paper, using the Parakeet Party piece. I also used the Parakeet Party bakers twine to embellish – the color works well with Granny Apple Green, and the glimmer of the decorative circle punch shape makes the cherries pop!
The Finished Effect Inside The Card!

I love the greetings that come with this stamp set – especially the different fonts and sizes. Stamping a cherry inside and also on the envelope, and gluing a piece of striped DSP on the flap finishes this card with style, doesn’t it?
