This week we had our team meeting and one of the things we enjoy doing is that old “show and tell” from our school years. Remember those days??? When kids would bring a favorite toy or item from home and stand up there trying to explain it with the teacher facilitating the discussion by directing questions?? And if you forgot to bring something on your day of “show and tell” the world ended and you were crushed because you didn’t have something to share!! Any way – I’m off track here!
We bring something we have recently done to share such as fun folds, techniques, gift ideas, etc. Our team member Tena Levett brought framed decor pieces she had done recently with friends and they were PERFECT to share at the end of our Patriotic theme week! FYI – not everything is current BUT all of them have current products used in unique ways and I’ve posted suggestions of current items that will still work!!!!
A Tiny Frame That Shouts 4th Of July!!
Isn’t this frame adorable????? I love the sprigs from the Timeless Arrangement dies – also found in the Timeless Arrangement Bundle – as well as the tiny label. This labels have a cute little accent – there is a tiny “x” marking the middle of each side! And I’m pretty sure the stars came fom the clearance rack as part of the resin stars package.
When You Don’t Have A Perfect DSP, Create Your Own!!!
Tena’s framed art piece begins with a label from the scalloped contours dies and then stamped with vintage Stampin’ Up sets from years past. But check out the background piece!!! You can easily recreate this with current products found in the catalog, such as the faint word stamp in Quiet Meadows or Gorgeously Made. And maybe you don’t have a stamp set with a star, BUT you might have the Botanical Layers stamp set that has the three tiny stamps that look like Queen Anne’s Lace for the firecracker sparkles!!! And you can turn the birthday candle dies in the Sentiment Silhouettes dies into the firecracker!!
Have The Daisy Dies???? Turn Them Into FIREWORKS!!!
For her card she used the detailed die in the Cheerful Daisies bundle. The embossing folder is not available, but don’t forget the Star Crossed Embossing Folder available in the Clearance Rack!!!! And there is a “celebrate” die available in the Wanted To Say dies!!!
Tena’s Last Framed Art Using The Lazy Days Bundle!!!
Ok, THIS was in my head earlier this week but I never got it created! Tena did and I LOVE IT!!!! Look how she added all of the patriotic colors to the porch with the rug, the baskets of flowers, even the lemonade glasses!!!! I was struggling coming up with a current product for the fireworks though without using my retired keepers. BUT – I JUST FOUND ONE that would work!!!! Go to the Clearance Rack and check out the stamp set Garden Wishes!!!! Cut the stem off the dandelion and you have the perfect firwork in the sky, then fill in with the Botanical Layers set with the little Queen Anne’s Lace stamp!!! And don’t worry about damaging the stamp by cutting off the stem. As long as you cut a straight edge it will piece together just fine.
Final Thoughts….
Thank you Tena for letting me share your beautiful creations with everyone!!! The were the perfect way to wrap up our Patriotic theme week!!!
This week was all about using your craft supplies in unique ways to create Patriotic cards even without having a Patriotic stamp set in the catalog. It was NOT about purchasing gobs of stamp sets, but I wanted you to see the possibilities are there, you just have to look. We CAN create fun cards for July 4th as well as other Patriotic holidays by getting creative and seeing possibilities with our supplies. Have you started looking for those possibilities in your stamping supplies??? I hope so, and I would LOVE you to share your ideas to celebrate America’s birthday!!! Until Monday, have a great weekend, start thinking about a Fourth Of July card to create, and God Bless!!!
