Well, we are in countdown mode til Christmas Day, and I’ve lots of stuff to accomplish in the days ahead. My Christmas cards are not out yet, I’ve treats to make and package for our neighbors on Oakhill Drive, AND although Christmas gifts are completely purchased I’ve yet to start the whole wrapping thing! But, I can truly say I’m not really stressed about all of this – actually looking forward to accomplishing everything this week.
As a music teacher, Christmas was such a busy time at school with programs and concerts – some years I had FOUR events to organize and arrange within less than 2 weeks!! – our personal Christmas kind of got pushed to the back burner until after those school commitments were over. Pool Boy and I would take a day off and run to Columbia and we did the whole “power shopping” and would come home loaded down. Pool Boy would be at the cash register paying while I moved to the next store to power thru. He’d take packages from the first store to the car, then meet me at the cash register of the second store, then we hit repeat — me to the third store, him paying then stuffing into the car. Thank goodness for online shopping now!!! I kind of consider shopping a form or torture, so clicking on buttons and checking out my online shopping cart in the comfort of my own home in pjs – that’s heaven!!!
But one thing I dearly loved was the crafting and creating little gifts to share with friends. For me those little gifts – whether received or given – were some of the best holiday memories. So, today’s post is sharing photos of a wonderful package of goodies I received from my friend Tena Levett. You are going to love them!
First, I love this beautiful card!!! Not the traditional seasonal colors of red and green, but Coastal Cabana and Real Red instead!!! The birds are from the Nest Of Winter Suite and are wonderful to use any time of the year, not simply winter!!! Anything with an embossing folder just ups the whole look, doesn’t it?
Then, comes the gifts included in the bag!!! I love a calendar such as this to have at my desk, and am thankful Tena included the post its and pen as well. I don’t know about you, but those two items are never around when I need them!
Next, she included this little box that had the nail file and case inside. PERFECT for tucking into a purse or travel bag so you have it with you when needed. I believe she said she got these at Dollar Tree, so be sure to look for them – these are fun little stocking stuffers, retreat gifts, and just a little something to surprise a friend with!
And finally this adorable gift box was tucked inside!!! How cut is this???? It’s all one piece connected, with about a 3 x 1 inch open area for your gift to fit. Tena’s gift was a great little travel size container of moisturizer. And, don’t worry – I’ve already asked her to come share how to recreate on our FB group page in January!!!
Final Thoughts….
Homemade gifts such as these give me so much joy over something purchased in a store or online. These gifts were made with talented hands by a dear friend who took the time to create something from the heart.
As a teacher, those were the gifts I treasured as well. Some of my favorite gifts from those years of teaching and programs included the best peanut brittle I ever had, loaves of homemade breads, a sunflower snowman to hang up outside for the birds, and many little crafted ornaments that I still have hanging on one of our trees. Gifts made with love by talented hands – the best.
But, FYI – carwash tokens are AWESOME TEACHER GIFTS TOO!!! Even Pool Boy appreciates those!!! Til tomorrow, have a great day and enjoy these days ahead as we count down to Christmas! God Bless!!!
