I’ve a question for you. How many tools do you have in your stamping supplies that you’ve NEVER used because you don’t really know how to use them???
Same thing can happen in kitchens! I wanted an Instapot several years ago for Christmas ’cause EVERYBODY had them and loved them. Except I don’t know how to use it – Pool Boy does!! And don’t start feeling sorry for Pool Boy because he had a new meat grinder sitting in it’s box for several years before finally opening it. This happens all of the time! See or hear about, got to have it, don’t know what to do with it! Even in school teachers allow kids to play with new instruments, equipment or manipulatives before getting down to work! Play is a part of learning.

Whether it’s kitchen utensils, workshop tools, crafting tools – if we don’t take time to play and learn how to use them, they just sit there. When we started our Online Speed Bingo Nights it was a way to focus on a tool to enhance our paper crafting journey. With the help of Tena Levett, Chris Howe, Johnna Bixenman Clarke, and Pam Cosby, we focus on creating a card class to learn how to use these tools. It’s not all about the end product, but instead on playing with and learning about our supplies to see the possibilities.
We gathered last night on our group FB LIVE and played our 5 games of Speed Bingo with card demonstrations between games. Last night’s focus – using the Linked Together Decorative Masks from the new Spring Catalog along with masking paper from our annual catalog. We shared tips and ways of using these products, and everyone who registered for the class received the following:
- The Linked Together Decorative Masks
- A full package of Masking Paper
- One small blending brush because who can’t add an extra blending brush to their crafting arsenal?
- Card kits so they can recreate the 5 cards above at home by using emailed tutorial/video recording
- 5 chances to win $15 gift certificates by playing
Now, that’s a pretty good evening – a card class, a goody bag valued at close to $25 AND chances to win a prize! And these gals had an ADDED BONUS – watching Lola spazz out because of technology and mental nutty-ness trying to get started!!! THREE times it took me to get the recording going right!! It was one of those days that I’m glad is behind me.
Final Thoughts….
It’s a cold day here in northeast Missouri with -9 degrees. Schools are out all around, and my meeting today was cancelled as well. Pool Boy still gathered for breakfast with the retired men from our church. Had a friend once mention her husband attended the ROMEO CLUB. When I asked what that was, she replied “Retired Old Men Eating Out”. Someone needs to coin an acronym for women as well – and I want to join it! Until next time, have a great day, please stay warm, and God Bless!
