Good morning and welcome to MONDAY!!! We have a busy week ahead since Megan and the girls are coming Thursday as well as Jim’s mom, along with card class and one more project to get wrapped up before the girls arrive. I’m gathering with three dear friends from my years of teaching in the 1980’s to celebrate a birthday so needless to say, lots to accomplish and I’ll be in and out.
So – retired teacher here – has spent lots of time planning over the years. Even retired 10 years and I find myself planning! Maybe no longer lesson plans but I need a gameplan on what I’m going to post thru the week. Yesterday I TOTALLY WENT OFF SCRIPT! My plan was to focus on the new florals in the annual catalog and it totally turned into TEXTURE! So this week – how can we add texture to our papercrafting without always turning to EMBOSSING FOLDERS?????
Earthen Textures Front And Center!!!

I was searching for a different fun fold to use today with my FB LIVE and I saw a fun fold that was shared by Terri Gaines from a year ago, so that is my starting point. This is an interesting fold that has panels NOT symmetrical in measurements so know that going forward! I grabbed a DSP pattern from the Earthen Elegance package to use as my mats. I paired it with Pretty Peacock, Pebbled Path, and Basic White. This was NOT one of my first choices from the catalog. In fact, more like the 3rd or 4th list. Was this a suite that you went ” Got to have this!” right away???
Adding Texture In Different Ways!

If you are like me, you think of embossing folders for texture, right??? Take a look at the outside panels though. Do you see the stitched marks and patterns in the Pebbled Path as well as the Basic White panel on the left? These are dies that are found in the Brilliant Backgrounds Dies. They simply leave stitched impressions in the panels, the only cutting out are the dots on the Basic White panel.
And it’s hard to see, but the vases on the right panel have been textured with a die that comes in the Earthen Textures coordinating die set. It doesn’t cut anything out, simply leaves the impression. Stampin Up is providing more of these texture dies, not only as stand along dies but also smaller ones within the coordinating stamp sets and dies.
Planned Asymmetry! Sounds Like Sheldon From Big Bang Theory!

So when you look at the card opened, you can see the three panels of Basic White are NOT symmetrical. Not a traditional card format for me, because I like symmetrical organization. But I DO like the looks of this with each panel having it’s own character, so to speak!!!

PDF With Measurements Coming TUESDAY!
I’ve a couple of friends coming to help me with a project today, so I’m running short on time. I’ll be back TUESDAY with the PDF of the card measurements, cause you are NOT going to want to reinvent this fun fold without them! Until then, have a great Monday, find some time to craft, and God Bless!!!
