I love Christmas. Let me say that again – with emphasis. I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!! I love everything about it but one thing – wrapping presents. It’s usually the very last thing I accomplish before the family arrives, and I’m tired and ready to “plop” only to look at this pile of packages. Luckily for me, Pool Boy and I tag-team the wrapping. He will wrap and wrap until the last package is finished, but don’t make him write tags – he wants nothing of it. Nor does he want to have to arrange them under the tree. So —- I start pulling the bags and boxes out, write the tag, and push the gift in front of him, and away he goes! When he’s finished wrapping, he pushes it to the side, takes another gift, and repeats the process. My job is to take the finished gifts to the tree, then keep the line moving. We have been known to get everything wrapped in ONE DAY.
The problem comes when opening, because neither one of us remembers what’s in the gifts til they are opened! It’s even a surprise for us! LOL!!! How did Pool Boy learn the art of present wrapping??? His parents ran a meat locker for years, and he wrapped meat on the processing floor. Isn’t this how all skilled wrappers learn the art?? Ok, I’m sure he wrapped presents BEFORE that, but working at the locker obviously helped him improve those skills!!
Shepherd’s Care – Available Next Week!!!!
I fell in love with this stamp set at first glance. Beautiful verses, wonderful depth and detail in the stamps, but there is one thing missing – no dies. I would have loved to have dies for the shepherd and the tiny Bethlehem, but I guess I’ll just have to fancy snip if need be.
To create the circled image, I first used one of the water painters and laid in a wash of color for the ground. Once dried I added a portion of the Shepherd, then the Bethlehem stamp and star in the distance. There is a splotchy stamp included, so I used that to create more stars in the sky.
Take a look at the DSP – recognize it??? You probably won’t because it’s from the DSP package Country Lace. Very non-descript. BUT it’s perfect for stamping the larger star and the Prince Of Peace stamps in the set. Start at one corner of the DSP and work across the mat filling in. A few splatterings of splotchy stars, and done!

Final Thoughts….
Need to share a story here about Christmas presents. Our son Evan lives to one-up his sister Megan. One year while eating – and before opening gifts – Megan announced she had NO TAGS on her presents. They were color coded by BOWS. She knew who was getting what present because of the ribbon color.
Never announce something like this to your brother. After cleaning dishes, she went into the family room and proceeded to let loose a stream of colorful, non-repeatable words. (She can cuss like a sailor). Evan had taken ALL BOWS off the packages!! NO idea what was in the package NOR who it went too.
Got to say – it’s one of Evan’s finest moves harassing his sister! And made for lots of laughs when the wrong person opened the wrong gift! Til tomorrow, have a great day stamping, creating, and God Bless!

That story is hilarious!!! I once wrote people’s names in short hand, then I forgot how to read it by Christmas. Then I switched to Spanish, and while it worked better, it was difficult remembering who was whom. I then just used English. Now, sadly, no family gatherings for presents for my husband and me. Cherish those times while you can.
