By the time this post arrives in your email inbox, we will be heading to Vancouver and then our Alaska cruise. Our daughter Megan and her family will be joining us, and already traveled to Vancouver yesterday for some sightseeing before we meet at the pier. This trip has been about 3 years in the planning stage, and even though we thought we had everything worked out, planned to the tiniest detail, everything covered, Murphy’s Law came in to play with our son Evan’s family expecting another baby. Cruise ships have everything on them EXCEPT neonatal services!!! For some reason they aren’t prepared for that emergency!
BUT, all is well, those attending will have a blast, and those not attending can anticipate planning a second trip in a couple of years when a couple of little boys are abit older. So, I thought you might want to have an idea where we will be each day on our Alaskan adventure:
- Sunday, Aug. 4 – we board our ship – Royal Caribbean’s Brilliance Of The Sea – in Vancouver, BC
- Monday, Aug 5 – this is a sailing day through the beautiful Inside Passage
- Tuesday, Aug, 6 – we are docked at Sitka, Alaska and the Bear Country Expedition
- Wednesday, Aug. 7 – on to Tracy Arm Fjords and Glaciers and Juneau. We have jeeps reserved for sightseeing on our own – just hope Megan and Adam can keep Fiona inside the jeep!!!
- Thursday, Aug. 8 – sailing to Hubbard Glacier for viewing
- Friday, Aug. 9 – on to Ketchikan! Pool Boy and I chose to visit Misty Fjords on the Wilderness Explorer excursion. Megan’s family is attending a lumberjack show with dinner instead. Pray there is no audience participation, because I promise you Nora’s and Fiona’s hands will be the first ones up to volunteer!
- Saturday, Aug. 10 – travel back through the Inside Passage heading for Vancouver, BC
- Sunday, Aug. 11 -arrive back in Vancouver, BC. Plan is to spend a few hours sightseeing after disembarking.
- Monday, Aug. 12 – we fly home from Vancouver to Atlanta, GA then back to St. Louis. Doesn’t everyone fly out of their way then back track to get home??? Going to be a LONG DAY for sure!
You’ll notice we passed on whale tours. The most popular tours are located in the Juneau area, but since we chose to rent jeeps instead, we are hoping we will have some whale sighting during our time on the ship.
I am not planning to take my computer with me for posts, since I’ve scheduled posts ahead as best as I can. I will be posting pictures on FB – both my business and personal pages. Be sure to click on the link below so you can follow our adventures through the week!
