One More Card With Pretty Poinsettia!

It’s amazing the difference of 24 hours! Yesterday morning I woke about 6am with a migraine and told Pool Boy that the Christmas card class would need to be cancelled. But after letting the meds kick and a couple more hours of sleep, we made to church to set up class, and this morning everything is ready to clean up and put away – and headache free! I’d like to start laying out clothes for the trip, but we’ve house guests coming tonight, so that will have to wait until Thursday.

We have two little boys coming to stay tonight at Papa’s house. In those little boys’ eyes Papa is everything, and Nana gets the leftovers. And that is just fine with me cause they bring such joy to our lives. They are so opposite of each other, just like the girls. Cal is the thinker, Ben is more of the wrestler. Cal is not overly cuddly, and Ben is the snuggler. But together they are like Tigger, bouncing all over the place! Now that Ben’s 2 he has a big boy haircut and no longer has his mullet. And I miss his “business in the front, party in the back” mullet hair cut. It’s amazing how a big boy haircut ages them! We can no longer call him Benny Ray Cyrus!

Here is one of our cards from yesterday’s card class showcasing the Pretty Poinsettia stamp set, and I just love that floral image! Whereas last week I shared four cards using the stamps to create the mats all at one time, here I simply used the floral image for filler to draw attention to the greeting. This is a classic and simple layout, by using texture on the the Basic White mat (embossed with the Softly Woven embossing folder), then using layers of labels to frame the greeting. These labels are from the Sweet Words and Labels die set, and I paired everything with the traditional Christmas color combo of Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green, with a touch of Crushed Curry. Add a few pieces of greenery with the leaves and pine needles and you have a beautiful card ready to send for the upcoming holidays!

If you participated in all 5 months of Christmas card classes – from June through October – you have 40 cards ready to go (with 20 different layouts!) Next week we are going to take a look back at each month’s cards to see the variety of our creations while I’m away from home.

Final Thoughts…..

Cal isn’t a big eater, but Ben is! He loves his potatoes and rice. Rachel posted this picture of him yesterday just sitting on the couch holding his “support potato” or Tato as he calls it! He’s a touchy feely kind of guy and he was just sitting there turning it around in his hands while he watched TV.

I had a decorative wooden potato box in my kitchen when our son Evan was the age of Ben. I still have it, although I use it for a paper/plastic sack box now. Whenever you missed things such as keys, just go check the potato box because Evan would drop EVERYTHING in it. He loved the hinged door, and it was exactly his height to open and stuff everything. Boys and their potato toys. Go figure
