Day 1 is a wrap, and we are sitting comfy in our hotel in Louisville. If we had started earlier in the morning we would have been farther down the road, but sometimes you simply have to work around scheduled items such as the hair appointment! Since my appointment was at 9 we were able to start out of town by 10:15, and stopped off at Megan’s before her zoom meeting began at 1pm. Shelby seems to know when we are exiting the highway for Megan’s house, and by the time we pull in her driveway Shelby was ready to get out. To the front door she ran, and straight thru the house to the back yard. She obviously decided she was home because she wouldn’t even come say goodbye to us. Megan sent a picture and Shelby was already crashed in the office by her desk!
Mama’s Mustard, Pickles, and BBQ

Mama’s was definitely a great stop for dinner! I skipped the mustard, but LOVED the bread and butter pickles – even had them bring me a second helping! Pool Boy only likes his cinnamon lime pickles that he makes, so no need to share mine with him!

For a change I went with the chicken wings, and they were delicious! First they are rubbed with the seasonings and smoked, flash fried, then dusted again with the seasonings. The were perfect – juicy, flavorful, and probably the best part of the meal – besides the pickles.

Pool Boy went with the beef ribs, and they were huge! He had already attacked his meal before I took pics, so disregard! He wasn’t able to finish one but, oh were they good! Throw in the sides of baked beans, mac and cheese, and sweet cornbread and we were in starch heaven!
Final Thoughts…..
Tomorrow we will arrive in Raleigh, and actually it’s the day before the start of OnStage. I dislike arriving for an event and unable to access your hotel room until way late in the day because the room isn’t ready before you leave for the event. Better to arrive the night before and have a leisurely morning before OnStage begins. By noon Thursday there will be a stamping party going on in the lobby as those attending are visiting and working on their swaps they didn’t complete at home. Pool Boy has spent too many times in the elevator as the only man with a dozen demonstrators! Last year he was asked to name a cardstock in blue, and gosh love him, he popped out Night Of Navy without a pause! Gotta love him for being such a good sport attending these events with me – but I’ve been told do NOT sign him up to attend as my guest. Not interested!!!
Here’s hoping you have a great day doing whatever you love, and God Bless!!!!
