I love living in a community that has a Dollar Tree!!! You just never know what you are going to find in that store, do you? Of course it’s now more the “$1.25 Store” since prices raised, but still a good deal. I especially love their candy aisle and the wide variety of treats. Because of Dollar Tree, I created banana laffy taffy treat bags with the cute monkey bundle last year for the Norway incentive trip, the coffee hard candies for the Latte suite went to Mexico, and I just need to get up there and find some cow tails to use with the adorable cow punch we have.
I usually walk the aisle with the glassware because of the little containers you can put together as part of a gift, and you just never know what you will find down the aisle with the crafting supplies and frames. Word of caution though – you need to go in fairly regularly because merchandise turns over quickly.
Yesterday I shared one final patriotic project on my FB LIVE – this circular patriotic sign. And the wooden circle came straight from Dollar Tree! Did you know that even if you don’t want to create home decor holiday projects you can still take the layout to create a card, just like I did in the bottom of the picture. The blue DSP – measuring 6 1/2 x 12 inches – comes from the Country Woods package, and the 1 inch strips of basic white and real red where embossed with the Distressed Tile embossing folder. Assembly was easy with our Tombow multipurpose glue. To remove the edges of the paper I first cut off most of the excess with our paper snips, then used a fine nail file – pretty sure those came from Dollar Tree as well! – to sand the edges!
I added touches of silver foil, and the Celebrate dies and stars came from the Wanted To Say dies available online. What a fun, easy, and cheap way to add some patriotic home decor for the holiday week ahead!

Final Thoughts….
Pool Boy was out mowing the lawn during my FB LIVE yesterday, so he didn’t see my project until we had lunch. By then, it was completed and gracing our island with a few other patriotic items. He commented that he really liked the sign and this is high praise indeed!!! No prodding on my part of “what do you think??”. He’s like most guys who would say “it’s ok”. NOT THIS TIME! I didn’t draw his attention to the display, share anything about it, he just commented spontaneously!!! Warmed my heart for sure!
