I love supporting local businesses in our community and truly much prefer them over big box stores. Even though our community isn’t large (Macon’s population is less than 6,000) we have a wide variety of stores and services available within city limits as well as the local rural area. Last week’s family dinner for the early Christmas celebration featured Noland’s Catering and their delicious brisket. Christmas Eve will include prime rib from Noland’s as well. Recently my church recognized my 40 years of serving as their organist with a wonderful gift certificate to AJ’s/Pear Tree here in town. In the past week I’ve sold numerous gift certificates to family members for both merchandise, classes, and Paper Pumpkin subscriptions. And recently I paired with another local cottage business – The Kohnstead.
Our minister’s wife Molly bakes wonderful sour dough breads, cookies, bagels, pretzels, etc and her business has really taken off. She enjoys sharing her delightful goodies and treats with our community and has built her business first through local farmer’s’ markets, and since fall, through FB and Instagram. The orders come in, she bakes, the orders go out and it’s a win for everyone! She asked if I would create some gift tags to place on orders this week so in just a few hours tags were designed, run, and colored. She receives the tags and we receive baked goodies in exchange – SCORE!!!!
Our smaller, rural community may not have the huge variety of retail stores and businesses as larger communities do, but we have lots of quality things we do offer. Check your community for those unique businesses such as The Kohnstead, and share the love!
I’m back to working on Christmas cards today AND FINALLY getting my pre-order box from the new mini catalog OPENED!!!! The order arrived last Thursday but with the family coming I chose to simply ignore it. TODAY I feel like seeing what all is in there, and hoping I can begin stamping later today!!!!
Until next time, have a great day, find time to enjoy doing what you love, and God Bless!
And check out The Kohnstead on FB and Instagram!!!! See what’s rolling out of Molly’s kitchen!
