Where did the month of February go???? It seems like it was yesterday that we flipped the calendar from January, and here in just over a week it’s gone! Before you know it we will be mowing the lawns, planting flowers and vegetable gardens, and gearing up to enjoy life outdoors. With the end of the month coming next week. it’s time to begin planning for clubs, stamping events, and card nights as well! And it seems like I just did that too recently!!! LOL. With the turning of the calendars each month we also add our Blessings Card Ministry at Zion to the to-do list.

We started the Blessings Card Ministry almost 5 years ago, and we are still going strong. Each month a group of ladies gather for a little over an hour and we churn out around 80 cards monthly. I have all of the mats, die cuts, etc. prepped ahead of time, and Chris Howe – our administrative assistant in the church office – prepares the card bases with a message for the inside of the card as well as our church info on the back of the card base. If I give her enough notice she will even cut and score the card bases as well!
These cards are simple to prep and stamp, easy to assemble, then are bagged and distributed to our church congregation so they have cards available to send a message or word of encouragement and care to others. The cost of the card ministry is funded first by a Thrivent grant, then the remaining cost of the year I cover. It’s a small way to give back to our church for allowing me to use the fellowship hall and facilities for my stamping events.
There are times I wonder if it’s time to stop, only to have someone say thank you for providing the cards, or to hear from someone how much they appreciated them. It’s a very small service we provide BUT it reaps rewards for lifting the spirits of those receiving them.

Final Thoughts…..

It’s very easy in this day of social media and technology to simply stop sending cards to others. With postage going up every few months it’s also costly. BUT those cards may be just what makes a day better or bearable for others who receive them. I myself received the three cards above while we were on vacation. I’ll let you in on a secret – I ALSO received a purchased card in the mail from Hallmark. It didn’t make the cut to save though!!! These did!!!
Until tomorrow, have a great day and find some time to craft, create, and God Bless.
