Stampin Up has designated Thursday, Sept. 16 as their Day of Service, not only within the home offices but also among demonstrators world wide. It’s a chance to participate and give back to your community by participating in food drives, back to school activities, blood drives – so many ways to help!
But have you ever thought about using your stamping, crafting, and card making as a way to help others at the same time? This is one of my favorite things to do – sharing my love of paper crafting to enrich other’s lives. It is so easy but incredibly rewarding to share with others!
Establish a Card Ministry!
Card Ministries are a fun, easy way to share your skills! Gather a group of ladies in your church family and meet several times throughout the year to make beautiful cards for those in need. My church has two such ministries. Our Sunday School children create and sign cards to send with the help of my friends Pam Cosby and Bev Dittmer. I started the Blessings card ministry several years ago and we are still going strong! We gather monthly and stamp cards to give to our church members who in turn mail them to those needing prayers and comfort. We have 7-12 women monthly who participate. Perfect time to use your retired card stock and DSP!
Nursing Homes and Hospitals!
Do you have a collection of Paper Pumpkin kits just waiting to be assembled???? Gather friends and have a work night! Package in cellophane bags with pretty bows and take to area nursing homes and hospitals to share with staff!
Especially Schools!
Being a retired teacher this is especially dear to my heart! Package a few thank you cards and take them to the faculty lounge for staff! Package an apple and thank you note for members of the school faculty to let them know you are thinking of them! Last year I loaded up retired card stock and DSP and sent to my granddaughter’s Kindergarten class. I was able to clear stuff out of the craft room and the teachers were thrilled with new supplies – a DOUBLE WIN!
Other activities I’ve organized or participated in include:
- Ronald McDonald House families
- Cancer centers for patients
- Ray of Hope Foundations for new mothers
- Hospice workers
- Pen pals with upper elementary kids
Use this month to think of ways you can share your talents with others and participate with us on Sept. 16 for Stampin Up’s Day of Service! Until next time, keep stamping for others, keep crafting for others, and God Bless!
