As paper crafters, we are truly in our happy place when we are surrounded with card stock, stamps, and ink, aren’t we?! The more stuff around us to play with, the more we love it. If just crafting puts us into our happy place, imagine how much happier you are when you craft with a purpose of helping others?
Introducing A Card Ministry For Others

About 3 years ago we started a card ministry at our church for the purpose of sharing our paper crafting with others by providing cards with words of encouragement. Most months we stamp packets of 2 cards and distribute to our congregation so they in turn can send to others. Funds for our ministry include a small grant from a Lutheran Benevolent organization, but I also use hostess rewards to add supplies as needed.
Other Ways To Introduce Card Ministries In Church
This is just one way of introducing a card ministry, but there are many ways to start card ministries in your church:
- create a group of cards to keep in the church office so they have ones to send as needed
- Have a card rack available for congregation members to select from for a donation
- Bringing a group of ladies together to stamp and take cards home for mailing to others
- stamp and sell cards as a fund raiser for a church youth group
- present a program for a ladies group on card making and card ministries
Make Your Program Manageable!
Keep your cards simple and easy to assemble. Dies are wonderful, but when you are doing multiple dies per card x the # of cards needed, it can quickly get out of hand! I built the cards above using DSP from my retired stash, a card stock color that is retiring in a couple of months and I need it gone, and simple white card stock. Our church secretary ran the white card stock with the greeting we wanted through the copier, so all we had to do was adhere mats and stamped images to the front. We had 80 cards finished in an hour!
Finding Suitable Stamps With Scriptures
Unfortunately Stampin’ Up doesn’t have a large selection of religious stamps, but I use many of our florals and basic greetings paired with stamps from Hobby Lobby. They have a wonderful selection of religious greetings to choose from and remember – with a 40% off coupon weekly you can grow your collection reasonably!
Final Thoughts…..
Think about using your talents in paper crafting to reach out to others – your happy place will grow when you know you are sharing with others! Until next time, keep stamping and crafting, and God Bless!
