We have arrived at our vrbo for the Super Bowl festivities! For the next 4 nights we can be found in Slidell, LA on the shore of Lake Catherine. The day after last year’s Super Bowl I started searching for a rental, just in case the Chiefs would make it to the big game again. You know – just in case! We prefer not to stay in the midst of all of the people, and it’s close enough to see the skyline of downtown NOLA without being in the middle of the crowds.

After the day’s drive and dinner, the guys have already assumed the position and are watching past football game highlights.

The house sits on the shore of Lake Catherine, and the Gulf coast is located just on the other side of the horizon. It’s a very quiet and peaceful lake, and the house came stocked with fishing rods if the guys are interested in doing so.

One of the Stampin’ Up demonstrators lives just outside of Slidell and she and her husband are NOLA Ambassadors this week for the Super Bowl. She recommended Phil’s Marina Cafe for dinner and we enjoyed the view! The picture above was taken right after sitting down at our table.

And this view was just a few minutes later. It’s 80 degrees and so much nicer than the temps we experienced at home earlier this week!

This restaurant is known for it’s fresh seafood, and my choice of the day – crab au gratin. Very tasty indeed! Super rich and loaded with crab meat.

And of course, we can’t end the post without a picture of this giant crawfish as we left. Mike is my brother from another mother, and we go back a long ways and have had many an adventure. As the saying goes, “There are friends, there is family, and then there are friends that become family.” And FYI – we fight like brother and sister!
Tomorrow’s adventure has us going to downtown NOLA and Mardi Gras World to see how they make the floats – we always have to have alittle educational experience worked in! Brenda’s request – BEIGNETS!
Until next time, God Bless!!!
