Sunflower Fields For Sympathy Cards

Ask any card maker and I would bet that “sympathy cards” are either their top, most often made creation, or no lower than 2nd place. We all need sympathy cards on hand, and they are probably the one greeting you constantly replenish in your card stash.

And I would hazard a guess that those sympathy cards are the most appreciated, most treasured of cards received. Just knowing that someone took the time to create the beautiful card for you during a very difficult time warms the soul and brings comfort during a time ahead.

I needed multiple sympathy cards for this week, so I turned to a basic, quick and easily reproducible card sketch and a current DSP. The pattern I used is my favorite in the Sunflower Fields package, but I am down to simply scraps – remember, favorite pattern so highly used. I paired it with Pecan Pie, Cajun Craze, and Basic Beige for the color combination, added an embossed mat, and a simple label punch and I was able to stretch those scraps to create multiple cards! From cutting to tying the ribbon I was able to create several cards in less than 45 minutes.

And I turn to the Prayers and Promises stamp set more time than not for my sympathy cards. I love the greetings, the verses, the fonts – in fact, when it retires I do not see this stamp set leaving my craft stash. At least, not unless Stampin’ Up! comes out with another stamp set that can totally replace this one.

So when in doubt of what to create, turn to sympathy cards. We unfortunately need them on hand is something we all experience, and we can never have too many. Pull out a simple card sketch like the one above, grab some punches, and your DSP strips to create beautiful cards to share with others un difficult times. You will be glad you did, and I know those receiving them will be thankful for your thoughtfulness.

Final Thoughts…..

Pool Boy and I have a busy night ahead with the arrival of Cal and Ben from daycare. Their momma and daddy are going to be out late for a concert, so we are in charge! At least, I hope WE are in charge and not THEM! We have several activities planned to keep them busy – remember, I like structure and organization so planned activities are needed for my sanity! Papa Pool Boy has already planned the dinner menu based on the boys’ favorites, and we are primed and ready to deal with anything those boys dish out at us. But we can always use prayers for patience, energy, and strength during the even hours ahead!

I’ll be back on Monday – I’m assuming we are going to survive the grandsons’ visit! – with another project. Monday night I have a group coming to the house to create the Christmas house kits, then Tuesday I’m suppose to fly out of Kansas City for a short visit with cousins in California.
