By the time this post arrives in your email box the game will be over, the Champion will be named, and we will have started our travels home. We’ve had such a great time, and the highlight for Pool Boy and I was the NFL Mardi Gras Parade yesterday. I’ve already posted so many pics on both my business FB page as well as my personal one, so just a couple for today.
When you are determined to have great seats for the parade, you arrive early – so early that you COULD simply set in your truck and watch unless you want to be in the throws and throngs of people. We had a great parking place, and when you arrive early you get a pre-parade of floats going by heading to the start of the route. EVERY float went by, but of course this one was our favorite!

We packed our folding chairs from tailgating along with my craft wagon that was a gift from my friend Rowena several years ago, but the wagon wasn’t needed since we just sat up in front of truck! FYI – that is without a doubt one of the best wagons that I’ve used multiple times for retreats, so Rowena, if I’ve not said it recently THANK YOU again!!!
We had no intention of attending the game this year in NOLA, but our friend Mike has wanted to go so long, and he found a ticket in his price range this morning, we dropped him off on Canal St. and hope we can connect with him again before we leave tomorrow morning! It’s been on his bucket list for so long so glad he’s getting to enjoy the atmosphere of game day! There is a couple of options for him to return home so don’t worry to much about him – he’ll make it back to Macon.

For Pool Boy and I, the parade yesterday was the highlight of the trip. I’ve always wanted to attend a Mardi Gras parade but was not interested in the crowds, so this can go off my bucketlist as well. Pool Boy sat right next to the man over my shoulder and had such a blast visiting with him for close to 4 hours. Yes, he’s a Saints and Eagles fan, but he was such a good sport and full of southern hospitality and charm. Such a fun atmosphere and we are so glad we had the chance to attend.

We are loaded down with POUNDS of beads and throws – two bags stuffed and overflowing, and our friends have two bags as well. I can’t imagine the number of bead strands thrown through the entire parade – unbelieveable. And I’m sure it’s just a drop in the bucket to the numbers thrown in the many Mardi Gras parades during carnival season. I found a place selling Randazzo king cakes – supposed to be one of the best – and decided to take one to the granddaughters for a fun treat. Pretty sure Cal and Ben won’t miss it, but the girls are old enough to have some friends over and with the pounds of beads I’m leaving at their house they can have their own Mardi Gras themed party.
Final Thoughts….
I’m hoping that our KC Chiefs will persevere and win, but no matter the outcome, what an incredible string of feats they’ve accomplished – winning 9 AFC West division titles in a row, winning 5 out of the last 6 AFC Championships, playing in 5 of the last 6 Super Bowls, winning 3 of the last 5 Super Bowls, and having the potential to be the first NFL team to ever win three Super Bowls in a row. Remember, I’m typing this BEFORE the game so I don’t know the outcome.
Whatever the outcome, what an aweome ride it’s been for Chief fans, and Pool Boy and I have gotten to celebrate many of these accomplishments. Say a prayer for safe travels home, that we find Mike after the game so he’s travelling with us, and God Bless!
And God Bless our Chiefs.
