There are so many ways to enjoy papercrafting – whether you love scrapbooking and journaling, cards and gift packaging to share with others, home decor pieces such as framed art and samplers, or 3D items. Papercrafters come in all forms! I prefer the cards and samplers, Tonia and Robyn enjoy the scrapbooking projects, and Pam and Tena love 3D items such as boxes and bags. We’re ALL papercrafters, but we each enjoy the art or hobby in different ways.

Tuesday night Tena Levett shared a fun 3D box she used for simple gifts during the holidays. The project is the swivel box designed by Julie DiMatteo at The Paper Pixie. It is such a unique box idea, so when I received one of Tena’s gifts I asked her to share on our group page Stamp. Ink. Paper – Creating With Pam and Lola. She popped over last night and everyone who tuned in enjoyed her presentation!
Are you a member of our group page? We’ve been going strong since 2020 as a way to gather with our friends while social-distancing. We started with about 50 of our closest friends because we really didn’t have a clue how to do FB LIVES and we’ve grown to ALMOST 500 members from all over the states and even abroad. Do we professionally edit and create??? Heck NO!! That’s not our thing. We are real and casual, and craft on the fly. But when we gather on these nights it feels like gatherying with a close group of friends. Would you like to see Tena’s presentation? The photo below shows the scoring measurements as well as the DSP mats that Tena shared on the recording. I highly suggest you watch her presentation before attempting – she did a great job and is easy to follow.

Probably the hardest part of 3D projects is how to fold and cut AFTER scoring. Many times you will have to remove sections, cut certain score lines, and remove small pieces so the box/bag easily folds together. The picture below shows how the project looks BEFORE assembling.

Final Thoughts….
I would suggest you take the time to copy Tena’s measurements and diagram on paper then either add to a notebook or folder for future keeping. Also, make the template in the last photo to include with the measurements because it’s almost impossible to try to snip and fold to make the final project without having something to look at. Finally, PRACTICE this before you begin making 50 of these!!! Try it with some retired card stock to be sure you know what you are doing. I SPEAK FROM EXPERIENCE!!! Since I’m not a 3D/Box/Bag person I find it somewhat challenging without practice.
Thank you again Tena for sharing your talents!!! You were a God-send so we could have our FB LIVE after I had just gotten home the day before from New Orleans. Better yet, you are dear friend and I’m thankful papercrafting has connected us! I’ll be back on Friday – VALENTINE’S DAY!!! – to share another friend’s papercrafting projects. Until then, keep stamping, keep crafting, and God Bless!!!
